Title: [UDG] - Unlimited Detail Geometry
Post by: mazemaker on January 22, 2013
Hi everyone!

Here is my entry for the UDG competition, it has music and graphics based on the theme of
a penguin and a basket ball.

It uses SDL.

The tile sheet has the first set of 8 glyphs as the first 8 on the row, and the second set of 8 glyphs right after them. Sorry for any confusion caused by the single row of glyphs.

Wow, what a trip.

But the  "The penguin cannot ever obtain the basket ball." on the readme made me kinda sad, because thats our life bro, we are the penguins, we will never reach the ball, thats.... deep... bro...

The music is awesome, the re-use of certain tiles to make a background is highly inventive and the concept of a penguin and a basket ball brought a smile to my face.

Rotating the penguins around the ball / balls around the penguin was my favourite part.

I'm also sensing a pattern in the naming of the entries for this competition ;)

;D nice one  ;D
I like the colors. They have a slight CGA-ish touch :)
Somehow the effects are well chosen, and together with the music, they manage to build up an emotional tension.

PS: it had a bit of lag. But i guess that's just Wine.

Every time a new 3d graphics card or games console (Nintendo, Xbox, Playstation) is built, they make it more powerful in order to run more geometry (Put more objects on the screen and make them look more rounded). Games today still have a long way to go before they look like 3d movies (Shrek, Nemo, Toy story); billions are spent every year on R&D to make hardware more powerful. Unlimited Detail is a software algorithm that gives unlimited geometry...........
