Ive gotta say something about this thread and the fuckiing comments on Pouet (again).
This is to Shockwave mainly - Ive known you (on and off) for several years Nick and I think you are proabably one of the most unselfish people that I know.
You have ALWAYS shared code and helped others and you deserve so much credit that mere words cannot re-create!
Whatever the twats on Pouet say or do - fuck 'em - I know some of the comments are wanky to say the least but they should just shut the fuck up or piss off and die somewhere.
The community on here and intro-inferno are all in the 'scene' for legitimate reasons, i.e. interested in the way other people code or do graphics or do sound/music, its a credit to the admins and the members on here!
Regards
Andy aka Drew
ps. I guess there is a lot of swearing on here - if it needs to be removed i would understand!

I appreciate the comments mate :) Look, I'm a big boy now and I can take a little bit of criticism. It's made all the more simple that there are friends I have who stick up for me. The situation is simple, but would probably take some time to explain but time is something I have at the moment so here goes.
I've stuck my head over the papapet lots of times over the last few years and I've released several productions to pouet.
So far the ratings have been;
6 Hour Blobs: +0.45(8/10)
Alpha Blur: - 0.17(4/10)
Amorphous Darkness: 0(5/10)
Bubbles Intro: +.0.25(7/10)
Message Board Intro: +0.29(7/10)
Flame Intro : +0.23 (7/10)
S!P II Promo: +0.23 (7/10)
Rituel Cracktro: +0.07 (5/10)
Only one production has been rated as below average, on balance I have had fair ratings. I don't actually think my programs are worth more than they have got in comparison to the rest of the scene, perhaps apart from Amorphous darkness which had great music and gfx, and rituel cracktro which is actually one of my favourite ever prods but I'm sure time will even things out there.
So I can't fault Pouet like that.
Where my rant is aimed is that people who haven't released over there beofre won't. They will not do it because they are scared. They are not scared of the rating they will get, they are just scared of spineless twats like Waffle and Las who will add their stupid and thoughtless comments.
There is no problem with a thumb down if a production is not to someones taste, the problem is the culture over there, the nastieness. and there always was some of that in the scene, but not like Pouet.
I just decided not to release my shit over there any more, I know that there are a lot of people who do appreciate the sort of stuff that we code so keep on doing it.
My posts and rantings over at II, well.. What can I say except that I know where my friends are and I might well be thinking about where my priorities are, but let me assure you that I am proud of these forums. They are nothing without the people who participate in them, the posts of each and every one of you are appreciated, please don't worry if I am upset by some thoughtless postings because all the therapy I need is right here and I'll never give up this place while I still have a hole in my arse.
That's one reason why I am a vehement supporter of II, it's essentially somewhere you can go to D/L intros, whilst being at the same time the complete antithesis of Pouet.
Keep on coding what makes you happy folks, especially you Drew :) And smile when you are doing it!

Thanks back to you matey!
Like the comment about the whole in your arse - sat here pissing myself. ;D

Yeah, I agree with drewPee! Nick is the most unselfish dude here and hey, none of us would be here without him, would we? . Here is my take on Pouet: I go there because that's where the most current demos are usually found and I add a comment or two myself, some not so flattering especially if I find something a waste of bandwidth, or someone rips code and calls it their own. Some comments by others are right on IMO, some are bullshit from peeps who just like to say something to get their name on the board, others from hatefull twats who should get a life. Unmoderated sites will always have the latter. So keep on keeping on folks and demo or die !

Fucking hell :-[ You guys will give me a big head. I won't turn down a huge compliment like that though ;)
Just had a thought though.. I was trying to imagine this place without it's members and it would be nothing. I just oil the wheels a little and the rest of the admin team takes the flak for my outbursts!! :)

You're alternative is to go direct to Scene.org and check the database there. That's were most of all Pouet files are kept.

only scene.org as alternative ? ;)
I'd like to react once more about that comment thingie...I'm around for a while and I never thought scene was place to flame others...it's of course obvious we can't always like all the productions, it's of course normal people love to be known for their work and devotion...but why is it needed to answer with the "leet" attitude? Why is it needed to lower the others because they can't code "as good as you"? It's not needed...and not wanted! I still believe scene is all about friendship! Of course it's about competition as well....but if we compare to a football match, are the winners laughing at the other team at the end of the match and the trainer saying on tv "Blah....those bastards did not deserve to be on the same pitch as us...i knew it, we just showed it. loosers!" ... No, they don't !!!
May the "leet" pouet people think about that! Of course it's not the whole communauty...but such comments should be removed, users banned as it does not help the scene...at least now, I fully understand why it's written "pouët != scene && scene != pouët" ...

Druid you knew what I meant mate ;)
-
They must be fans by now..they love it so much that they started another thread..on pouet about II: http://www.pouet.net/topic.php?which=3423
I even created an account on pouet to reply! Or, was it a technic to get me on Pouet?? damn, I'm caught!
-
Don't take the shit to heart mate, your site has a lot of fans :)
-
We love you Druid and II too!
-
I don't love you in *that* way though Druid :P It's more of a brotherly love actually.
-
Smartass.... You know what I meant! :D
-
Pouet........... I've commented on this before, yes some of the comments are uncalled for but i also feel that some (even though they don't sound like it) are to encourage you to do more. If they heaped praise on newcomers first prods would they be as determined to improve on that?
If you look at the high end of the demo scene there is a huge amount of talent and whether you like it or not anything submitted is going to be compared in some way to that, even by those less capable.
-
There's no Disagreeing with your post Stonemonkey, and it would make any positive comment that you get from that place more satisfying when you finally get it.. But.. That site is far from fair and I think that I've seen one too many promising coders destroyed by the loudmouthed wannabe's who can't do anything over there except run down stuf that they don't understand.

I'd say congratulations Druid. I just read the thread on Pouet and its:
a) Moderately friendly
b) 80% positive
c) Quite a sensible discussion
I think its the first time Ive seen that on Pouet!
