Title: normalmapping demo
Post by: Stonemonkey on May 07, 2006
A rendering engine i'm slowly working away on in freebasic, needs a pretty decent cpu.

EDIT: requires MMX and SSE

Now that is impressive, even though my CPU / GFX card couldnt tackle the speed. It looks though gorgeous mate, and this is WIP :D

I do however get a Windows error report alert message after exitting. I wonder if this is a problem with Nvidia cards with Freebasic.

Pentium 4 2.66 Ghz
Geforce FX 5500

Cheers and all the best with it's progress,
Clyde.

XP reports...
bump_demo.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Are you by any chance using SSE?  I'm on a Duron 750.

I would lova a screenie though. :*)

I doubt it's a problem between nvidia and FB since it's only using Tiny_ptc, more likely to be something i've done.
Also seems to run much better on AMD cpus, I only have an AMD @1.7GHz and it's not too bad, gfx card shouldn't make much difference.

Oops. Yep, using a bit of MMX and SSE but not checking for it sorry. (really should get round to putting those tests in)

Unfortunately it wouldn't work on this computer;
P4 3.0ghz, Radeon X300 SE 128mb, 512mb ram.

It just displayed the first frame and then stopped responding, from the screen shot it generated it would be damned impressive (as usual for you) when it's moving I would guess.
