General chat / Re: The Welcoming Committee

Welcome to the forum Derold. Looking forward to your first demo in COBOL!  ;D

 :hi:

Sorry, but I have forgotten most of what I knew at the time.  And worse yet I haven't been able to figure out how to load those six inch floppies into this laptop  :telloff:.

But thanks all for the welcome. and I am concentrating on 3D graphics, then some basic AI, then maybe sound :).  I include in the 3D graphics:  animations and controls to move in the 3D space, similar to Might and Magic 7 (p.s. my camera functions are already smoother  :updance:, though not as complete)

Just hooked up with you and yours today, well yesterday my time.  I'm based in Idaho, USA and used to program in cobol, fortran, apple basic.  However that was in my teens, went directly to machine code for the speed.  After that had money problems so concentrated on work and got way outdated.

Now I'm 40+ and currently hooked up with Code::Blocks, OpenGL and SFML, on a MSwindows system.

I consider myself an intermediate in C++, and a beginner on all the rest.

I found most of the games I loved died out and was replaced with shadows so decided to recreate the game play myself, heh heh heh  :inspired: :crutches:, though I have the concepts I lack the technicality.

Although I seldom have net access(about 8 hrs a month), I am looking forward to spending allot of it here.

I'm new here and to openGL, however I ran across a couple of resources you might be interested in.
This has to do with Matrices:

and openGL in general:

the gl push and pop commands can be very handy as well. :)

Just putting in my first post, no reply expected to this.  currently downloading the the avi.
new to graphics programming, and hope to improve.  However I don't expect to be in competition any time soon and am just doing this for the fun of it.

posting here because this project caught my eye in a general 3d search with google.

Hope to learn allot here. :updance:
