Quite a diverse range of music round here which pretty much sums me up, i like most anything from Abba to Black Sabbath (for a limited time at least ;)) Most of the music i like these days is inspired from demo's and games infact i'd go as far as to say i much prefer instrumental music these days it's nice in the background while your doing whatever it is your doing!

Rather than pick out groups / bands i like etc i'll go for styles of music!

Synth (computer Generated including game/demo music)
Rock (from Rock and Roll to Heavy rock)
Classical (As Shockwave said would be great to see a demo with a classical score but it would need to be a long one ;)
Pop (Booo yeah all that 80's music i just can't forget it ;))
Trance (Ambient nothing too fast!)

Quote
Carabian(sp?) style music, perferably with steal drums, those rock....
(from: Rattrapmax6)

Caribean I also love this kind of music especially the steel drums as well!

hey shock nice font m8! just 1 slight glitch if you've noticed no 1 pixel space between m and n,
also between w and x!

great work just wonderd if you'd noticed.

ps i do realise may have been pixel restraints that forced this!

@clanky i have a geforce 6600 pci-express card it's pretty crap by todays standards but just about runs stuff like dawn of war and it's expansions, i also play cnc3, cnc generals (zero hour) and they all run fine.

things to look out for:

If it was a shop bought pc (ie pcworld, comet, currys etc) it MAY be running with built in graphics which defintly wouldnt cut it for todays gamming!

i'd recommend a minimum of 128mb, pixel shader 2.0 or 3.0 (without pixel shader 2.0 @ least it will probably reject even running these games like the error you got), go for anything radeon or geforce over 50/60 quid and you should be fine running those games obviously the more u spend the better it will run.

hope this helps you out!

Just thought i'd finally introduce myself a bit my name is Mark (your not getting my last name  :-X

I do graphics, i tried coding and music and shite at both  :-[

I found this forum via codeman & shockwave from intro inferno etc. I also spot quite a few familiar names from other forums i'm in such as EAB, Oldskooluk, Intro inferno etc

Anyway sorry for the very l8 intro here but been busy doing gfx for shock (amongst others) & playing them damn arcade games  ;)

on Amiga i used Dpaint 2/3 & Brilliance 1/2 and on Pc i use Xara Extreme (not to be confussed with xara 3d or webstyle etc)

enjoying my stay so far

you can't please all of the people all of the time but use which ever version suits ;)

the 2nd version has more of a spacey / gravity theme about it the green outer glow sorted reminded me of 80's arcade games like gravitar etc

next time i'll be trying something a little more curvey rather than just a set view but thats between me and my art prog  :-\

15
Thanks everyone, I've looked at the image again and i wasn't too happy with it either.

so here's version 2 a much stronger theme and see if u can guess some of the influence's!

also might add a few more effects yet!

here's another not as good as the last but a very TANGO moment ;)

EDIT: of course feel free to use it

clipping in on the cusp of things here, but towards the end of my pixeling days on the Amiga i used Brilliance it was in my opinion better than dpaint 4 onwards!

i know i'm very late on this post but for me the last couple of years on Amiga Dpaint went to hell and Brilliance 1 and 2 took over for me! dpaint 4 and 5 had colour clash on ham8 etc wtf back to speccy days lol:) (i guess ham8 on brilliance would have been much the same but i was never asked to do anything in that ;))

upto dpaint 3 i was loyal and i wouldnt use anything else however Brilliance 1 & 2 almost copied the shortcut keys that dpaint had so i was at home straight away and the palette editor had some very clear advantages i loved it i lapped it up ;)

As far as i am concerned the PC has never had a decent pixel art package because the graphics allways worked a different way! maybe in the last few years has been one but not back then! remeber the short commings of trying to pixel with a cabled pc mouse in win95 @ best forget doing pixels on that lol:) even worse in a dos enviro i used to do graphics for nascar racing and geoff crammonds grand prix 2 on amiga and transfer them over via twin etc loL:)

time for a funny little story regarding deluxe paint! way back in 91/92 maybe i used to phone my m8 who used to travel to where i lived and we'd play puter games etc! anyway i fucked up my dpaint 2 disks so i phoned my m8's house and his gran answerd, i asked if gav my m8 could fetch his deluxe paint disks! Later that night his gran asked him if he could fetch the DULUX paint loL:)

been having another play around with this logo tonight wasn't happy with a few bits of it here's v2 ;)

added lighting to top of each letter also added bevel on edge where the rust/metal texture is.
added a four point star instead of 3 point just to keep symetry and so i could add the artifical lens
flare!

if anyone wants to use this it can be resized alterd anyway you need ;) also any graphic format you require even 256 colour bmp (shocky) lol:)

@rain_storm the texture i used is actually this one "skin2.jpg" tho i entirely agree it does look sandy ;) (included the texture incase you wanna use it ;))
