I've been teaching my 8 year old Grandson to code in PureBasic and he recently completed his first 'solo' project, a simple 'avoid and collect' game for PC!

Why not give it a try and throw him a $1 to encourage him to complete future projects!

Who would have thought that the Commodore Amiga (and C64) would still have games created for them decades later... I certainly didn't, but I still make sure to keep up with it all.
I'm currently porting it to C64 and PC!  Here is the C64 version...

Game Showcase / Spheroid - New Amiga Puzzle Game

Spheroid is a puzzle game (coded in Amiga Blitz Basic 2) in which you guide a  metal sphere around a maze of tiles towards the exit tile, within a  time limit and set number of moves.

 The maze is comprised of various hazards and tile types, each having a different effect on the metal sphere.  There are 50 levels to solve.

Spheroid will run on any OCS/ECS/AGA Amiga with at least 1Mb of RAM and AmigaOS versions 1.2 up to 3.2.  It can be run directly from floppy disk or installed to hard disk.

The game is free, but a donation is welcome which will be used to maintain and expand original hardware.

Further to the post above, the Twitter account reached 400 followers today so I tweeted a PETSCII of the Enterprise D bridge that could also be used in a C64 game...

Thanks for the kind words!

We have been thinking about creating a game using some of the graphics.  It would be a simple combat/strategy game.

As well as the character PETSCII's, every 100 new followers we gain, we pixel something non-character based that could also be used in a game.  We're approaching 400 followers and will have a PETSCII version of the Enterprise D bridge interior  that would fit into such a game quite well.  For 200 followers we did an exterior PETSCII of the Enterprise D which would also fit in a game quite nice, perhaps as a selection screen (go to the bridge, engineering, transporter room, etc.).

Hello hifi!

I *loved* the 90's ACSII scene.  I used to collect as much stuff as possible to view on my Amiga including nfo's, readme.1st's, etc, etc.

Did dabble myself using Blacks Editor on my Amiga 1200 and produced a few collies, but was never part of a group or anything.

From your animation, it looks like each letter is divided horizontally into "zones", for example, then each zone is stretched in turn to simulate "pouring" as you put it.

Saw similar on the Amiga back in the day, except it seemed to pour a scanline at a time.

How did you do this in the end? In code and build sprites on the fly or pre-render then display sprites? I'd have cheated and drew the letters as animating sprites... ;)
