General chat / Re: A controversial topic.
« on: February 12, 2011 »
hey guys, been a long time

whatever you decide to do (change/leave as is/modify/etc.), i'm here if i can help somewhere :)

just a thought that might attract people, as we all know demos and coding have 3 major parts.
  • the code
  • the music
  • the graphics

in this forum we have sections for code and music but not graphics and many people out there are into graphics and have no idea what a demo is and it's history.

if some graphicians come here and read all about it, see the friendly atmosphere  :buddies:, who knows maybe they'll dive into coding as well.

i know we have the sections together music-gfx, what i meant is separate.

just my 2 cents :)

is there a game you've saved up for and then been let down?

C&C 4 , epic crap :telloff:

and i was expecting a lot from starcraft but after betatesting it it feels like playing the original but with better gfx , so starcraft is a no go for me and way too expensive for a game ::)

personally? for me this forum is the demoscene and not pouet, in this forum you get help and certainly not demotivated by others due to "stupid  :hanging: competition".

i'm glad i'm a member of this forum  :buddies:

Heya... I messed around with this a bit a while back. It's pretty fun. I think I need to change the colors in yours for my glasses to work because I have those old style red/blue ones. Anyway, here's the thing I made if you wanna have a look. :p

http://drd.owlbox.net/download.php?id=88

I tried a few things, but where I got the best results was this: Render each eye to a separate image, fudge them over a bit and then blend. So, I moved the left render right by n pixels, and moved the right render left by n pixels. That fudging thing wasn't based on anything except messing around with images in Photoshop. It does seem to look a bit better to me, but that may just be me.

that is a very nice effect !! and it would also look awesome as a screen saver  :P

they re-released "diabolik" also, maybe they're out of ideas and they're recycling oldies :stirrer:

tested alien breed, i liked it's gfx , it's movement and the overall gameplay.

looks nice :)

most steam games are "online" games so i hope this one plays online with others.

i already have steam installed so i might give it a try.

from what i've read here http://kg.whdownload.com/kgwhd/index.php

if you get the WHDLoad packs of the demos then you will be able to run all those demos with any cpu/ram configuration.

they did it this way so the user doesn't have to change his config every time he wants to view a certain demo.

just extract them using dir opus or any other proggie you like to your demos HD and run them.

11
i know what you mean.

a few years back when i used to emulate my real A1200 i used only 8mb fast and the 68040 i had with 3.1 workbench and new icons only.

i just wanted to give this setup a try to see how it goes, but i can always drop the memory and cpu and everything to make it the real deal from inside the emulator that's not a problem ;)

the nice thing is that i can play amiga games now with the controller ;D :updance:

12
installed amikit with os 3,9 ... it's a no go  :o every setup i tried ended up giving the guru screen after boot :telloff: lol

so i ended up with amikit and os version 3,5 wich works like a charm.

i made no changes to winuae (amikit fixed everything), also downloaded every whdload demo i could find and tested many of those, also works fine.

and what i have discovered just now is that winuae recognises my 360 win controller :o :o so i was really happy to play again dogs of war   :updance:

time to get some more whdload games  :P :P

and for those that want the games straight from their publisher, Gremlin & Magnetic Fields are giving their games for the amiga for free  :updance:

http://gremlinworld.emuunlim.com/amiga.htm

edit: added a screen of my current workbench screen

13
if i'm not mistaken, when you select A1200 winuae asks for a specific rom version -> Amiga Kickstart 3.1 (40.068) (A1200) (Commodore) (1993)

that's the only amiga i was emulating.

14
from what i can remember (long time since i used winUAE)

you need the original amiga roms, and you specify an amount of space of your HD so that winUAE will make that space "amiga usable".

from what i can remember you can allways "delete" that space so you can have it for win.

also i think you can access that space from win like a folder and add adf files or other amiga stuff.

hold on i'm gonna install it remember everything and let you know for sure ;)

.:EDIT:.  you go to the menu on the left and click "hard drives".

then on the right you select a hard drive from your pc "add hard drive".

after you selected a hard drive you see it on the list, you check it and you press "properties" and "create hard disk image file" and when i do that id gives an error  :skint: :skint: dunno but that's what i was doing in the older version i had.

now i installed 2.1.0 (210.04.28)

Ps. hmmm weird now that i look in my desktop it did create the .hdf allthough it gave the error, and now that i tried to load it it gave another error and it crashed lol?  :P

does winUAE works for win 7? ???

.:EDIT:. yup this helps for sure  ;)

http://www.lemonamiga.com/?mainurl=http%3A//www.lemonamiga.com/help/tutorial_1/1.php

or maybe it's better to use amikit? going to check it out

http://www.thecryptmag.com/amikit/

.:EDIT:. ok amikit install with winuae but it requires to have the original os (3.5-3.9 and some others) in cd so it can install it.

it's seems confusing but it's not ;)

those two links here explaint the methods a lot better than me  :P

and have very nice examples of images and their distance for the left and right eye.

Freebasic / Re: Stereoscopic geometry test

this is a very interesting effect, i've never seen an anaglyph demo/intro before.

what you should do is to make the yellow line into red ;)

the correct color values for anaglyph imaging are those (bright turquoise) RGB is R-000 G-255 B-255.

and the direct opposite of the bright turquise is R-255 G-000 B-000.

the spacing between the two images/shapes should be approximately the spacing between the human eyes, but you can play around with spacing for the optimal effect.

hope i helped

something like this?

.:EDIT:. added the other one i was working on "coin-op cabinet gravity".

.:EDIT2:. after reading this post -> http://www.dbfinteractive.com/forum/index.php/topic,4740.msg63991.html#msg63991

i thought why not? i've never seen an anaglyph demo/intro before  :inspired: so here it is the coin-op cabinet gravity in anaglyph.

best viewed with those paper red/cyan glasses :P

enjoy

.:EDIT3:. (lol) attached the transparent version

i know

someone that can make gfx can tell that. ;)

i know it doesn't have to be 3D but what i came up with leaves me with no choice.

because you just can't shoot some pool without "gravity" ;)

but yeah i get the general idea of what you are looking for.

.:EDIT:. there you go , i hope you like it.

ok i know what you mean and i have an idea but it requires 3D so don't expect to see it tomorrow.

btw that billboard is 3D too.
