Best way is to draw a grid and use that to get the spacings worked out.
This is all good practice for releasing your own stuff Nino :)

I did mine in mspaint, from screengrabs and it took me 4 or 5 goes to get it right.  What I did to check it was copy the original bitmap and then paste it underneath offset by 1 or more characters, and then see if it lines up.  If it doesn't, make a correction and then do it all again.  For instance I can see in yours that you have mostly 1 pixel gaps, except in some places where there are 2 pixel gaps.  Check out the attachment.

You can see things line up in the letters until you hit O and then it all goes wrong.  But you need to check the digits too.  Looks like the correct spacing is 14, but it might be 13 or 15, I didn't spend too much time on it.

If you are lucky, when you work on a project you'll get an artist who knows what he's doing with code too, this is why I have been so spoilt working with Wham in the past, however most artists don't know how to correctly space fonts and lay them out in ascii order etc.. It's something you just have to compensate for when you are releasing stuff.

I am really looking forward to seeing your conversion finished btw :) It's quite a brave one to take on as it has quite a lot going on.

Ps. If you think that UPX made a small exe, try kkrunchy, it will go to an even smaller size.
