Ring- 1/2 of Block and Ring Collection.
« on: April 10, 2007 »
This when finished will be two yes TWO games in one.

The game I'm working on now is the game of Ring you play inside a ring destroying opponents on the outside. Be warned this is not for the panzy video game player of today. This game will be made for shmup players and will prove to be fun and challenging when finished. I'm really happy with the color palette and wireframe look. For now, the controlls are set to the Japanese standard "z" for fire. If you hold "x" while moving you can easly change the direction of fire for picking off hard to get turrets. The gameplay is all here little will probably change other than some niceplayer options. I plan to have bosses every 3rd level. These bosses will emerge from the center and you will have to change your frame of mind to fire inward while avoiding outward going shots. Please read the instructions before you play.

Link below screen :) This game will be freeware for all to play. A game that costs me time to make should only cost time to play.

Shit, I can't download it at the moment, seems like there is a temporary problem with file factory. Pity, it looks really manic and I want to play it!! Grrr... Fucking free hosts, I'll try again later, screen shot looks very nice.

Lots of people use these free file hosts, I hate them. Web hosting with ftp only costs a couple of dollars a month :( If you email me the file I will host it for you.

nicksimpsonx@googlemail.com

Because I really want to play this game.

Yeah, that works fine, cheers paul.
The game is nice and smooth and has a sort of Tempesty sort of feel to it, this would really benefit from mouse control and huge explosions, mad sound effects and power ups.

It's really promising, but for fucks sake, when it's finished don't use that host, send it to me and I'll host it for you.

thanks for the direct link, paul! the game concept is nice and original. the gfx
is cool and retro. add explosion and so on, like shocky says. it's really great.

but please keep in mind, that there are countries ( e.g. germany ) who don't
have a qwerty keyboard. we have qwertz. that means that the
game control ( x & z ) are not next to each other - which makes it rather hard
to play.

Thanks guys, I'll work on some controll mapping. :)
The sounds and music usually come late for my games because I have no expearance in making them. Thanks for the file host I'll change it in my main post now. I used to use exoload but they were refusing my files lastnight.

You got some nice vector graphics stuff going on and the game is quite fun. The only thing I found with it was that changing the angle of fire was a bit too fiddly to bother with when there was a lot going on so I just ended up going round and round shooting in the same direction. Other than that its very nice :)
