@ninogenio

Yup. This idea came up before I think - and it is a good one IMHO ...
We just have to think about some guidelines and rules. E.g. which language,
which engine (OpenGL,DirectX ... ), which resolution ... and so on !!!

i think opengl would be the languge as most of know it but not a lot of us know dx. as to whether its in c++ or freebasic i dont mind .

what we really need to do its draw a plan of how the demos going to be placed together i e the effects that are going to go in and how there going to transition from one to the other, Then someone should make a frame up and people could work on what effects they like the sound of like i might go ohh i wouldnt mind working on the vector bobs or whatever.

something like that perhaps?

Yup. OpenGL seems to be more used in this forum. But I think the majority would
prefer Freebasic. Personally I would go with C/C++, but I might have no time for
an additional project anyway ...

actually now i think about mabey jims pimpkin engine would be just the tool its definitly the engine for the job!

i know that not a lot of members know c++ so i would be up for translating there effect over. and this way all members could code there effects in a languge of there choice and also it wouldnt limit them to opengl.

If you don't mind porting the freebasic fx over to c++ then open up a new thread and
ask about if people are interested in it. Then convert Jim's engine to a solid framework
and maybe ask Shockwave about it - if the demo is released as an official dbf-forum
release. Maybe he wants some quality assurance about it ;)

Would be definately an interesting project ... good luck !!!

Listen, I pay the cash for this place, but as far as ownership of it goes, I am just one of the caretakers. If you want to make a co-operation demo, go ahead :) There is a whole admin team who can verify it's quality, if an admin or mod thinks a production is good enough, then I am more than happy to trust thier judgement :)

I will not be able to code in the production myself due to personal reasons at the moment, well not at first anyway, maybe I might chip in later if it is possible, but there's plenty of people here who are better at coding than I am so you don't need me :)

right well let me get all my stuff im working on atm together then like benny said ill have to build a frame work and post it then we can talk buisness it could be a long process taking months but it would really be something to showcase a demo from the whole dbf team from beginers right through to advanced programers!

ohh and btw jim would you mind your pinkin engine being yoused as a base?

I'm not particularly interested in working on a demo with other people, but feel free to cut and paste bits out of the pumpkin source - that's what it's for.

Good luck dudes :) Coop Prod would be awesome. U really need a coordinator/director to take charge and sort out problems. These things are hardly ever easy to do esp online.  Looking forward to the result.

I'm in.  OpenGL and FreeBASIC are my preferences, but C/C++ is an option.
