The past couple of days I've had a lot of time to learn various coding related things.
I've been studying Denthor's demo tutorials (I am convinced everyone is familiar with them, but in case that is false, follow this link

I am a purpose driven person. I am used to having a straight up plan of action and set of goals before I do anything. But I noticed something these past two days.
It was not the plan of action, but the dedication to commitment.
I said, "I will just dedicate myself to this demo thing, and just go with the flow, and just code this and that. I won't rest on my laurels, I will go the extra mile, and put effort into accumulating raw experience."
Cut to the chase: Denthor's routines are burned in my brain. I have never been a pascal programmer, but at the end of straight up 2+hour sessions, and having never put my mind to this sort of thing:
I could quote you the pascal for Denthor's routines, and give you the sense of understanding that would allow me to translate them into other languages.
Moral of the story: A good coding session is never wasted. You may think, "What's the point", but if you can say, "Okay, I will dedicate myself to it wholly", I don't doubt the effect on me will be the effect on your abilities as a coder.
