What is your group doing / planning to do ?
« on: November 04, 2009 »
Just read Clyde's thread ... and I wonder what the represented
groups in this forum are doing at the moment, are there still active,
are there any big releases to expect, what is your current opinion
about the scene etc ?

Maybe some of you could drop a line ...

e.g.

- Gravity
- Codigos
- Haubjobb
- Youth Uprising
- Secretely!
...

As for Codigos, I honestly don't know.

I wanted to enter something at the Sundown party but I was overloaded here as the site went down when I was supposed to be coding for Sundown.

Rbz released a 1KB intro at Function a few weeks after Sundown, it came 6th. I think it would have done better at Sundown and got more exposure so it left me feeling a bit sad. I really wanted to release something for Codigos there this year.

The simple fact is that it was my own fault. I was even coding something at the party (attached) but I got too drunk to finish it.

I think that I will make something for Codigos soon, I have a few ideas.

It's pretty difficult though as Ampli seems to be busy with family stuff and Dicab is doing stuff for Alcatraz, although I'm sure he'd help if he was asked.

I mentioned to RBZ about getting some new members and the plan was to do something for Sundown or another party to get them so this will probably happen in the near ? future.

I don't know really, Rbz is the founder of Codigos so it has to be his decision.. I would like to work on more productions though.

On another note a member of this forum sent me a nice PM asking me if I was up for doing a joint production with him and I answered yes, who knows.. I do feel like I should be doing more programming.

Perhaps this post will be the one that kicks me into action eh? ;)

as Secretly! is still a one men group i have to say i am extreme busy and a little bit unmotivated in doing somehing (in generall... also not only computer related)! I have some ideas in mind and some preview stuff (96k game, stuff for 1k or maybe a 4k version) but there are couple of problems.

My maingoal is to change privat situation here... i am working as medical-driver based on 400 euro job (also just only 160 euro are at least for me). Here in my flat is a real chaos... Things i have to do and still woking on:

- repairing n installing clients PCs
- repair, install and sell my old AMD3200 PC with 17" TFT on ebay
- repair, install and sell an Fujitsu Siemens Tower with 17" Fujitsu TFT on ebay
- selling a small portable TV on ebay
- sorting tons of old clothes and try to sell some (even unused) stuff on ebay (not selled stuff will be given to the red cross to help other ppl)
- checking, repair, selling all my old Amiga 500, 1200 computers on ebay (at least about 7 machines i think)

I hope to get some more space here when all the stuff is sold or still gone and hopefully getting some money i can spent on important things like new clothes, moving to another flat/city and so on...

On the PC site i will try to code a 1k or 4k (i think more a 1k) for the future... but as i told in the past, i have no real experience with C/CPP and DX... so its not easy to code even a very simple basic effect for me atm :(

And i will try to update the group website... a peview version is done... but some small problems and at least atm no time to continue/fix stuff...

life must go on an i am still looking forward... i think n hope i am on the right way ;)

Gravity...

The gang are now studying and working hard, and being party animals on the weekend giving me time to reflect on learning some C++.

We've got some work in progress efforts, that need inspiring with media and adding some new tricks to or infact converting to other languages, and hence my recent cry for assistance in the gfx department - no joys so far, so im going to head to arty sites. In the past graphics wouldnt be much of a problem, as I wasnt programming that much these days its the reverse, and I dont favour using old stuff other than for testing out with and in my cool creations lab.

Have an 75% complete spooky entry, which I couldnt finish due to my hands being circumed with what look like warts ( which are numb and bloody well hurt ), and am having an operation at the end of this month so the specialists can examine them ( never had my hands photographed before either ) however will feature in something else.

I dont want to waffle on for too long, but I'd just like to take this opportunity as I never got round to the scroll text for Spooky, to say a huge thankyou to the people who have not only helped me in my early days with basic and routines, but also helped me tread on the right path with my current C++ endevours. Who knows maybe something for Christmas.

I don't have a group any more, Electric Druggies are long dead, I am still working on things although I am officially retired...

My last intro pissed some people off (as intended)

Now I am working on something oldschool (ish) but inspired by Future Crew's wormhole effect (screenie attached).

Already a group has stepped up to take this intro so you'll see it when it's finished, stuff will be flying out of the wormhole and I think I'll make some kind of circle twist for the infos too.

YUP? Wish I could tell you ;) hehe.

I will say that we have about 4 or 5 projects in dev, one of which on the C64 :) It's NTSC, though, so it probably won't be released until Blockparty 2010 (If I attend) or @party.

I have not done any demo related coding for a while, mostly due to not being able to find time to work on something. I made a tool for packing images onto a texture which was something I always wanted to make, and which I will find use for at some later time.

I have been working a little bit here and there on deciding on a game project that I want to get started on. So I have made small tests of various concepts to see what would work and what I would like to proceed with. Its been a very long time since I made a game that passed a playable state, and I always wanted to make a halfway decent rpg game.

So it is mostly just a little coding here and there, but not getting a lot done sadly.
