I came across the book: Texturing and Modeling, A Procedural Approach (from Ken Perlin among others), which looks really usefull. I'm wondering if anybody here is already familiar with this book and if you are what you think of it.

If you aren't meaby it's worth checking out too.

I've heard of it before, it does look very interesting. Just looked it up on Amazon, wow! $77 for the Kindle version. Ouch!!

I own the first edition. I think they're on the third one, so things may be different now. I can't give this book my warmest reccomendations, especially considering the price.

Different chapters vary pretty widely in difficulty and abtraction level, and the chapters seem disconnected. The book tries to cover a lot of ground. For me that meant that each chapter was hit or miss, with very little overall structure to the book.

But buy if the price isn't an issue, you'll probably find at least a couple of chapters usefull.

I got a pdf version now to leisurely preview, the few bits I read are pretty interesting but I'm not going to order it quite yet...

Anybody got some favourite general programming books to share, focussed more on language agnostic programming techniques rather then learning a language?

My all time favourite is still an actionscript book by Keith Peters (AS2:making things move), it's not so much about actionscript as it is about making things move (basic trigonometry, physics, IK/FK etc).
