Linux OpenGL Console
« on: December 30, 2013 »
Has anybody done anything interesting with OpenGL on the Linux console?

With Wayland compositors starting to appear, people on Linux are getting away from X, and in a way that doesn't force you to use a dumb framebuffer.  I was wondering if any demo coders are playing around in this domain?

not yet, but sounds like a nice idea.
On the other hand, if one writes demos in openGL then it doesnt really matter i guess.
And i would really wait to have SDL support under Wayland. (in progress. for SDL2 afaik)
Yet another question is, if relying on wayland currently severly limits the number of people you can target.

So i keep a look out for wayland. We are also considering it at my work. But it is not yet there. for mainstream in my opiniion. But it already has it's place in embeded enviroments.
