Yeah!!! That's a beautiful bit of code. If it doesn't work - then I don't think it will need much to kick it in the but! lol.

Thanks.

Almost finished!!!  ;D
I haven't fixed the scrolling bit... still struggling.
But I've got the bonuses working. And all I need to do now is add the dropped enemy item collisions with the player and [fix] the movement of the aliens.

Should have a finished game by Sunday. If every thing goes to plan (and that's late.)

I won't animate or properly draw the aliens. I have just made them coloured rectangles. I think animating and drawing them so they look original will take alot of yabasic power and cause heaps of slow down! But. After I finish, I might have a crack at it.

This has been a fun project! Started alright... stopped and then got kicked to full steam!

I totally forgot to finish it.
Dunno when it'll be done now. I'll try and get it done soonish.

I am still very much looking forward to seeing if your version will be as insane as the original, however don't feel bad about not finishing it yet, it's quite a big project and these things take time. Besides, there is always the original that can be played until your version is finished!

Well, I'm back at uni now, and I have a job... so the holidays were pretty much just spend not doing it lol.
But, I'm getting a lap-top so I will be able to work on it more now.
I did do some stuff. But, I'm thinking of making the shooting better - more like the original. And the bug with the invaders is still happening! Damn.

edit... found the newest code I did. Has enemy collisions, shooting and pick ups. Basically finished, but not what I want.

And I think it runs too slow. Might have to optimise it abit with a bit of help from the pros! lol

Hey that's not a bad conversion! It was wierd to look at a Yabasic clone of my game, I think it needs to be about 300% more difficult but the speed is definately up to scratch.

You have even added some of the little touches like sequence bonuses from the original :)

Hope that you finish it :) K+

I'm in the mood to try and get this finished lol.

Just some minor difficulties:
1: The invaders still squash up... I'll try and use ninogenio's code for a quick fix, but I'm not certain it'll work.
2: The shooting is slow in my opinion. I've tried to make Shockwave's famous 'Spray' shots, and faster shooting... but, it's really slowing down the app! Damn. I tried to run it with standard bullets of an array of 30, just to see if it would suffer. And boy did it! I'm thinking that I would need alot more bullets on screen than just 30 for the spray, and then I will have to make directional arrays for the bullets! Even more calculations and clogging code... so I dunno anymore... I'll try my hardest, and any help will be muchly appreciated!

Improved:
     1: Title screen
2: Gameplay (I believe). I made the invaders shoot more, and faster
I'm thinking of ways to imrpove it. I might make the UFO bigger... but I guess the smaller one makes it harder. And it's not hard at the moment. I got to 200,000 with 5 lives hahahaha!

It's making it's way to becoming finished. Just a few touches, and she'll be purring!

I had a lot of fun creating those power ups :) Good luck in making them work.

Maybe you should draw less bullets and make them move faster each frame, say 6 pixels instead of 2 or 3? It will look like there are more bullets onscreen than there actually are if they are moving really fast.

Yea, I tried that. But all the bullets will be fired before they get refreshed... leaving a gap in the trail.

It is possible to do it though.. That sounds like your bullet routine needs fixing!  ;)

It's a matter of just getting the speed of the bullets vs the amount of bullets correct so that you don't have gaps in the bullet trail.
