Multiple VS Express 2005 installations on one system possible ?

Hi.

Does anyone of you know if it is possible to have multiple installation of the VS Express
edition 2005 on one system ? Right now, I have a running VC++ Express 2005 system on
my computer. However, I would like to try out some C# coding. Therefore, I want to
install the VC# version. But I acutally don't want to uninstall or "destroy" my current C++
version ( you know that re-installing it can be a real pain in the *** ).

So, does anyone has any idea about it ? Can I simply install another Visual Express installation
without any concern ? Would be great to know ?

All I found on the official site is that you have to un-install any BETA versions before - but
I found nothing about having two different version running.

Afaik, you should be able to create a c# project as well as a c++ project from the one installation.
When you go to File->New->Project there should be an option for Other Languages that you can expand from the Project Type box.

But saying that, I have no idea if its the same with the express version as the version I have. I dont see why it shouldnt work like that though.

That's the question. I think I read once that multiple installation ( or in other
words using one VS installation for various languages (C++, C#, J# etc) is not
possible using the free Express version.

But unfortunately I couldn't find that information again and now I am not sure about
it ... would be really interesting to know because I would just install the C# version
for testing reasons and that wouldnt justify the deinstallation of my working C++
version.

You're supposed to be able to install all of them - I think this means you will have a separate install for each language instead of having them all integrated together.  You can also install alongside VS2005, and of couse they can all share the one Platform SDK/DirectX SDK.

After reading what Jim wrote I installed C# tonight. In comparison with the
C++ install process - installing C# was very easy. And I just want to let you
know that it is exactly the way Jim described it. You can have two versions
on one system. But they are not integrated in one Suite. They are seperate
from each other.
