Thanks guys, I had used various scans which hadn't found anything but then had a look using hijackthis, removed mppds and a couple of unknown entries to a file called ou3viewer.dll (renamed those files too as they just re appeared in the registry) and it seems to be back to normal.....for now. makes you wonder how much other crap windows has collected that you don't notice.
