Scratch
« on: May 16, 2007 »
The boffins at MIT have created a programming tool called "Scratch" which is so simple to use that a child can use it.

There's very little coding involved, and most of the programming is done through the use of a "block" based GUI.

I fear for our continued existence - who will need coders when kids are doing all the programming?
I forsee a future of programming sweat-shops.

yeah games are made with a lot of gui tools but in the end a good coder is still required for a lot of stuff like building the tools then building the engine so the stuff the tools produces makes sence etc.

i really dont think programing will ever deminish if anything the hardware in computersis getting more coomplex and as such it requires a really skilled programmer to do anything with it.

And even though things will certainly change more and more, the demo scene and places like this will keep hand coding alive and well. There will always be people who want to write software rendered stuff for thier own satisfaction.
