Endless Piracy - Enchanted Land cracktro
« on: October 13, 2007 »
Win32 Remake of the Endless Piracy cracktro on Amiga
We once had a passion
It all seemed so right
So young and so eager
No end in sight
But now we are prisoners
In our own hearts
Nothing seems real
It's all torn apart

When I tried to unzip this AVG said it was a virus, so I stuck it in the vault. I think I read on this board somewhere that some compression tools make progs look like viruses to anti virus software. But I ain't going to risk it  :-\

Like I posted elsewhere, I think it's kkrunchy packed EXEs that are causing the problem.

Guys, I'm using kkrunchy and also have strong anti-virus protection here. I'm trying not to upload s**t here...

I know - it's AVG's problem.  I checked your exe here http://virusscan.jotti.org/ and there's no problems.

We think these conversions are great :)

Mike, there is no virus in this intro.

I have the full version of Kaspersky here as well as AVG.
AVG ercognises Kkrunchy packed files as virii, Kasperski doesn't.

This is because (as jim said) some people have probably used kkrunchy to disguise thier trojans in the past and passed kkrunchy packed files over to AVG.

This does not mean that Stormbringer's files are infected, quite the oppositte and in fact I decompressed the exe with lordpe and ollydebug, scanned with AVG, no virus.

Re-compressed the exe with kkrunchy and it showed a virus.

Go figure.... This file is safe.

Benny, a new website for the remakes is coming. Stormbringer and I are talking about the best way of doing it. :)

@benny!: as Shockwave said, there will be a website soon. Also I'd like to release the source code for these remakes and explain how they were done, especially with the emulation of the music. Some people will also help with the resourcing of the original intros on Amiga, etc. A bit of patience and it will be soon available.

@Stormbringer: You're a killer - so much cracktro remakes within that short time ... I dunno the originals but I bet your stuff is almost perfect :)

Just a little challenge ... can you do cracktro conversions of these prods as well?

http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=32461
(done by me back in 1995)

and these ones here as well ...
http://www.pouet.net/groups.php?which=3684

for sound emulation you could use the OSMEngine :) Capable of replaying SNDH files

Btw. you may use my Tiny FutureComposer lib for replaying Future Composer zaxxs in your forthcoming prods :)

Anyway - didn't want to bother you :) Keep up your brilliant work ...

Cheers,
SLiPPY

@slippy: thanks for the nice comments! no, you are not bothering me at all!!! I really appreciate the interest concerning these remakes

As you may have guessed, my scene background is the Amiga, not Atari ST.... so I need to install an ST emulator and check what these intros look like, but they do look nice from the previews I saw on pouet.net. Do you have the SNDH files? or can I find the on the net?

BTW, as you may have read above, a new website will be up soon, dedicated to remakes. If you want to produce some remakes of the intros/cracktros on Atari ST, you are welcome.

BTW2, I know your OSME engine. I actually use the same SC68 core emulator for the music in my remakes ;). But I changed some stuff in the emulation to make it capable of replaying some exotic Amiga formats that did not respect the strict register read/write modes and some other things.

BTW3: info will be available with source code to reproduce scale accurate vectors, copper lists, scroll texts, etc. So any other coder around willing to join the dance and ready to produce a remake, let me know, or just tell Shockwave!

Cheers,

Stormbringer

@Stormbringer: Really looking forward to see your tutorials and code bases ...
to the SNDH ... well I almost have all of them here but they're available on http://sndh.atari.org/ too ...

this site is comparable with the all-famous HSVC site ...

almost any Atari ST chiptune is in the archive (currently 5912 chiptunes and still growing) ... :)

Worth a visit ...

And if you just want to quickly check the tunes you may use the WinJAM Player ...
