I have my idea, but it borders on the religious - very slightly.

Funny scandal that. But Christmas is a fundamental religious holiday. As long as the demos aren't trying to forcefully convert I see no problem with a bit of festive imagery.

Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus, if you have a little faith then there's nothing wrong in putting that into your intro I think

Here goes - the lines in question read as follows:

Christmas is a very special time of year. It means many things to many different people.
The first Christmas was celebrated during the height of the Roman Empire.
It is difficult to say when exactly this occurred, but most people agree that it was the birth of a highly influential individual.
Most of you know who He is, and I won't say too much about Him, so as not to cause a fuss.
Let's just say part of his name is in the word "Christmas".
It wasn't until many years after this event that Christmas became a widely celebrated festival.

The there's a bit about how the celebration of Christmas became popular and how it changed, then:

Probably the most widely recognised character in all of this, at least amongst the children, is Santa Claus.
Many of us know of the legend of Saint Nicholas, of whom it is said gave away the wealth he had inherited to the poor and the sick.
According to news papers dating as far back as 1773, families of Dutch descent would gather in New York during December.
These gatherings were to celebrate the passing of "Sinter Klaas", shortened from "Sint Nikolaas".
At this time, the story of Sinter Klaas didn't have a single image - rather a range of different styles.
With the celebrations occuring at the same time of year, and with Saint Nicholas' legendary generosity, the two holidays merged.
He was reinvented as the bringer of presents to the children, and by 1822, was recognised as a portley fellow who lives at the North Pole.

Thank you so much to everyone who entered the competition, you really cheered up my evenings when I came home to find them after a hard days work!

It's really nice to get a good selection of entries again, yes Christmas intros can be cheesy but they are fun I enjoyed all of them!
