[CHRISTMAS]: Dingos Dream Christmas
« on: December 08, 2007 »
ho ho ho merry soon to be christmas from dingo!

are you ready for the remote controlled sledge race of your life,

lol ive unfortunatly run out of time on this one as we are in the middle of getting ready for our new baby coming not long after christmas, and ive already spent way too much of my time working on it. having said that if i get some free time ill do more to it and if i dont there will be ddc2 next year.

ive got an ok amount in but i wanted to do more anywho it doesnt really matter as it was only meant to be a small fun game that was a bit of a laugh.

the complete documentation for the game has been included in the game folder please read before playing just to give you guys an idea of what the game is all about.

ive also included my visual cpp ogl project folder minus the gfx sounds and midi folders as thats in the game folder.

game. about 1.4megs

I can't get that to run at all :( and the runtimes won't download either.

Any chance of a fixed version, it looks great.

The screen goes mental then it tells me I've a shit score :(

Probably something to do with vsync but I've never been able to find out what.

lol sorry aout that stonemonkey it sounds like your vsync is off the game trys to switch it on but only if vsync is set to aplication controlled.

@shockwave no probs mate but the exe will i suspect be bloated.

and ill have to figuare out how to include the runtimes as im not sure?

-edit does anyone know how id go about including the runtime libraries with the exe? ive looked about but cant find much.

think ive got it fixed up now!

it was project->properties->c++->codegeneration->multi-threaded.

could you test this for me shockwave its a patch and will need pasted over the original exe

@fryer theres frame clamping now so it should run at a steady 60fps on your comp but if your vsync has messed up youll get a smidgin of tearing, but at least youll be able to play.

taj i have no idea mate,

its all really basic stuff thats in the program and it shouldnt crash so again sorry.

im really miffed as i tryed to keep it as simple as possible to save it from any of these problems   :(

-edit i just tried the new patch on my cousins pc he has no programing stuff or vc runtimes and it works nicely. are you sure you pasted the patch inside the original project folder taj over the unpatched exe, it sounds like the patched exe isnt finding the resources(midi,sfx,gfx folders) correctly in your case mate.

anywho ive tested the patched exe and it works in my case so could i ask any of you guys to apply the patch after downloading the game before trying it cheers.

and sorry for any hassle.

It works here now but the game is really difficult!
Still, it's fantastic to get a game in the competition :)

cheers guys!!

im really happy it works now! it is a bit difficult untill you get the hang of it it was made around the slip stream, so use the slipstream as much as possible and the houses come up at regular intervals so it just a case of maybe waiting ten seconds then using a quick burst if nitro and barging santa really hard to get him out of the way.

it does become quite easy after that ;)

what do you mean benny.. the file doesnt work or the download link doesnt cause the download link should its 4shared so maybe if you try again  ???

or if its the game that doesnt work have you tryed downloading the 1.4meg file from my first post and then drop the patched exe inside this folder.

@buckethead and Drew cheers for the comments guys.

@nino

Doesn't work here (black screen then it crashes). Maybe a problem with ATI gfx-cards?

could be i guess,

but i realy don't understand it as it works on my cousins intel gma 900 gpu so i guessed it should work everywhere the only thing else that i can think of that would cause a crash is if your monitor doesnt support 800x600 @ 60hz but i think thats quite standard now.
