2 BUTTON GAME CHALLENGE
Welcome To A Rare Event Here!
This is a demo programming forum, but for one time only, let's use all those demo effects to make a game that really rules!!!!!
The challenge this time seems simple but provides a lot of scope for your imagination.. The gameplay must be controlled by no more than 2 individual keys on a keyboard. Kudos is given for incorporating some demo style effects into your game too.
Here are the rules!
- Allowed Platform : Win32 PC. (if emulator used the emulator must be compatible with current win32 platforms)
- The gameplay must be controlled by two individual keys only! (note that I said gameplay, if you have a title screen, obviously you can use more keys on the title screen but the gameplay must be two keys alone. The only additional key allowed is one to pause the game.).
- Any freely available emulator is allowed, IE. Winaue, Yabasic, Saint, Vice, Dosbox etc.
- Any language that runs on Win32 (Including browsers / emulators) is allowed.
- All entries to have a screen shot included please.
- Up to 2 entries per person are allowed.
- Ripped gfx/sfx are allowed, but please give as much credit as possible to the artists.
- No other alternative control systems allowed, keyboard only! No mouse, no joystic, no joypads!
- Please do not use ripped code without permission / credit.
- No previously released work to be submitted.
- Entries to be posted in this forum please with the title [2BUTTON] entry name
- Entries may be posted between NOW and Midnight of [29th February 2008]
- The winner [S?] will be decided by a poll of forum users
Here are the prizes!
- 1st Place - Amazon voucher for £25 - Sig - 15 Karma
- 2nd Place - Sig - 10 Karma
- 3rd Place - Sig - 5 Karma
- All entries get 2 Karma
So there you have it, but please remember that because this is a demo programming forum, the users of this forum who vote will be asked to vote not only on the fun element of the game, but on how demo-scene-ish it is!
For example, a 3D tunnel could be an integral part of the game. Maybe you could be dodging some scrolling messages or flying through some metaballs...
This is not mandatory if you have a killer idea for a game, but it would be cool to put some demo-like effects into it

Anyway, good luck!
This will probably be the only game writing comp we run, it will be back to demo effects after this
