Hiya all,

Had anyone got Playstation 3 and what does You think of it?

what games are you playing at the moment?

I am playing my friends`s PS 3 and the games I have play are

EURO 2008(Quite good game)
Devil May Cry 4(Excellent game)
World Snooker 2007(Much better than PSP cos it is easy to pot and easy to see it)
F1 Championship Edition (Good game....I had go at moving the control like a streeting wheel but it was tricky to do)
Fear( good game with good story )
Sega rally( it is good game but to warned you....it isnt EASY because of very hard Computer AI !!!)
GTA 4( good game but can be too easy at times!)
GENJI (Interesting game with Ok story....abit like devil may cry but it is slash em up)

Great console, my brother had one but there were not enough good games out for it so he sold it and got an xbox 360 instead

Yeah, it's taken a while for the games to start coming out for it but I think it's just starting to pick up now. One good thing about making the decision on games to buy is that there's quite a few demos to d/l in the online store.

Ratchet and Clank, Resistance: Fall of Man, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, GTA4.  These have been sensational.
Sonic 3D.  Waste of $100.

Sorry Mario but our shmups are in another castle.

If you like the same FPS over and over again it may be the console for you. I personly don't see many traditional style games for it and the price tag makes it too much for me.

ps3 might be more expensive but at least it works I know two people who have xbox 360's that cant even play brand new games. They keep getting a strange error that goes like this - 'This is an Xbox 360 Game to play it put it in an Xbox 360' even tho the xbox's are less than 2 years old (one was only bought a few months ago). My ps3 has no problems running anything. Always starts up games first time. Now if only I had spent a little extra dough I could be running some Yabasic homebrew on it

Yeah it's a shame that Arika decided they didn't want to tackle porting onto the PS3.  Then again I dont think the lack of shmups (non-arena ones that is) is really down to the consoles themselves but more that it's a dieing scene and no developers are able to take that risk.  PS3 seems to be suffering the most in this respect because it's not getting as many ports as the other next-gen consoles (maybe because they aren't pushing for it since they dont feel the need to sweeten the Japanese market ;p).  Then again it doesn't bother me so much since it is actualy only old ports which are really coming out at the moment, all of which I already own on other consoles or can play on MAME.  (In fact the MAME ones I could actualy play on my PS3 if only I could be bothered getting around to partitioning the drive and installing linux).  There's only actualy one shmup which can be got for next gen consoles and not anywhere else which I'm bothered about which is Ketsui on the 360 (not actualy released yet).  I think that one game is really going to be the turning point in whether we see more of the new shmups on consoles or not.  If it turns a respectable profit then hopfully more will come and we'll start to see this branching out onto other consoles.  If not I think you're going to have to live with the fact that all we'll really see for the most part in the future is rehashes of the old shmups and yet more arena shooters, or at least until the consoles are in their final cycles and such releases make more business sense.

Anyway with regards to FPS games, for a long time these have always been the games which have been used to show off the latest cutting edge technology since they rely so heavily on visuals.  Well FPS and to a lesser extent racing games.  That's just the way the games industry has worked for ages now, and games which rely less on pretty visuals have to wait their turn or risk getting overlooked in the new tech hype frenzy.  There's plenty of good non FPS and non racing games which are starting to filter through now though.  I know it can be a real downer to have to wait for the more innovative games to be given their chance but if the patterns with previous console generations are anything to go by then they will come with a vengance if you're just patient.

Imo it's a reasonable price if you consider what you're getting for that money.  Other consoles might have lesser price tags off the shelf but they dont offer the same value for money.  If you include all the extras you'd need to bring those machines up the specifications of the PS3 then they end up costing you more.

I've just been playing the Battlefield - bad company demo, not usually a fan of first person games but this looks pretty good.

5 Star for Assassins Creed?  I thought the tech was absolutely amazing, they just forgot to put an actual game in there.  There's like 4 extremely simple objectives which you just repeat over and over and over and.....  There's a very dissapointingly little amount of actual assassination too.

Heavean Sword - Watching their lip in the cutscene is almost there like the real flim!
