UK guys meet up?
« on: January 05, 2009 »
There is an event (not a scene event) before Sundown this year.

Drewpee is holding another one day event, hopefully lots of UK guys go along, ok it is not a scene party but it's still an opportunity for uk guys to get together over some old computers as a warm up for Sundown in September.

Advert is on our front page under the shoutbox :)

Right, alot of views and not much replying action. Hate seeing good posts with zero replies, and lots of views.

This is a good idea in my opinion, would be nice to meet the real people behind their internet disguises. Also a good reason to have a drinking session.

I'd like to go, but I will have to see what my financial situation is like for getting there. I dont get much in the way of benefits. Im hoping they will go up, and not down. I'm not going to make a promise and say I'm on my way dudes. But it is something I will try and attend. Also health allowing.

I should also check out RCM, to see about travel arrangements and details.

It would be good to see some of you at our event - DBF members have ALL without exception been very friendly - I have known Shockwave for quite a few years now and his support has been amazing tbh! Other members on here are also members on RCM too!

Our event should hopefully be bigger than last time. We had just over 70 people and around 35 or so systems. In May we hope to get over 100 visitors with around 50 systems. If you are in the area and can make it - please do come along . . .

Thanks!

Further to this, the Vectrex . . . I have 4 cartridges which between them have 28 games.
I thought these were - how can I say - Illegal - turns out that they are no longer under copyright by anybody.
Still a grey area but It means that in theory we will have 28 games (at least) to play on the day!

That should keep you going for a few minutes Shockwave! :)

Also just added some new machines to the museum, a PC-Engine, Phillips Videopac G7000, Atari 65XE and an Oric Atmos!
plus I have just found an Atari 400 going cheap on ebay so maybe that too?

PC engine sounds exciting! I've never seen one in real life in action. I dont thinnk they were very easy to get hold of in the UK.

Yeah they were. Some of the games still cost quite a bit! The one I have came with 5 games, out of the 5, 4 are okay and the other is a bit shite!
The best game I have at the moment is Dragon Spirit! Superb shoot em up!

Wow, nice promo :)

It's lovely to see all those games running. (especially the Vectrex).

It would be most excellent to get some actual live footage from the next one with everyone playing the games and using that in the winter event too :)

IDEA: See if other members can video as well not just the one, that way you can make a great Directors Cut! :D

Been meaning to check out RCM@YouTube, will do it asap.

We now have another addition to RCM, An Atari 400 with several cartridges, including PacMan and one of my personal favourites, Miner 2049er - (For those of you that don't know - this was Matthew Smiths reason for writing Manic Miner!!!!).

Some more updates, we now have a Commodore 128D! Quite rare in this country, this one came from Holland! Donated to our museum by a friend of mine. It comes with around 1000 disks too . . . also an ICL One Per Desk - similiar to the Sinclair QL but better manufactured. I will try and post what machines will be there for you to see at our gaming event.
