Just wondered what Applaud / Smite, means underneath peoples Usernames in posts?
Does it have anything to do with that Karma rating?

It does indeed.

If you read a members post or watch a members prod and you think that they are deserving of some good karma, applaud them, if you think that they are acting like a tit then you can smite them.

I decided to turn it on because I thought it was a pretty cool feature.

I don't see applaud/smite under the usernames, is there something I need in order to do that?

Seem to be there for all of the themes for me. The links are on the left just under the user name and just above the post count.

It should be there for everyone... what browser are you using? Maybe there's a small problem with the board.

It might be because some of the images were broken, I think I've fixed them now. Here's hoping.

Works for me on FireFox newest version.
Maybe there's an option for members to turn on / off in their profiles.

It wasn't working for me too, so when switched from Mist theme to default theme, now I can see it.

Weird, I know, but works for me  ;)

It must be because some of the images were broken in the mist theme. Should be ok now, can't see any errors on the server log.

I've worked it out :)
It used to appear when you had made 10 + posts to the forum, I've altered it to 25 + before you can applaud or smite someone.
