Red Dwarf is Back!!!
« on: April 03, 2009 »
It was great reading the front cover of the Radio Times today, that Red Dwarf is back!

I loved it the first time around, as its a great Space Comedy.

yeah its on at 21:00 gmt over on Dave on each day over the Easter holiday.
I saw a sneak peek on BBC Breakfast, still has the same bits that made the series what it was as per the original shows which is great.

It didn't seem to follow on from the events of series 8.

Red Dwarf was being eaten by some sort of nanobot, and the crew had abandoned ship, leaving Cat, Kryten, Lister, Rimmer and Holly stranded. Of these, only Rimmer (resurrected by Kryten's nanobots under the request of Holly) was unable to escape to the Mirror Universe, which may explain his subsequent death, and re-appearance in the new special as a hologram.

They've got a lot of ret-conning to do tonight and tomorrow night.

They got back on RD after the nanobots recreated it for them.  Can't remember which series that was - they'd been hiding in Lister's sock drawer or something.

Saw the first one of the Easter ones tonight.  Didn't laugh much...But the cliffhanger looks good!

I recon you'd laugh more, if it was filmed in front of a studio audience like the originals over at BBC, or had a laugh track.

I quite liked it, am looking forward to the smeg ups tonight.

Yes, it means [pre-emptively removed by Combat King before he gets smited again]  :kewl:

I guess the final two parts explain the discrepancy between the end of series 8 and the first part of this special by suggesting series 9 (and possibly series 10) happened during the 9 years between the end of series 8 and the start of this special.

I'm not sure why Rimmer was commanding the scutters if he is currently a hard-light hologram.

It was good that they re-united for a 25 annivessary, and was ok.

but it could of had a better story arch and Im not a fan of Coronation Street. I think this was a bit rushed and almost last minute - seeing as the BBC would of snapped this up for sure and had it recorded in front of a live studio audience, also where on earth was Holly.

Acting was good, considering they've not played these characters for a while. The creator should of been the actual creators Doug wotsit And Grant Naylor, not the actor they choose.

Im still waiting for the film. :D

I thought it was OK, but not as good as a repeat of The End.

Clyde - yeah, I had to check the credits to see if it was Rob Grant or Doug Naylor, but it was some unknown actor.
