Duke Nukem Forever (RIP)
« on: May 08, 2009 »
Wow, it looks like DNF is finally dead, for real this time; http://www.shacknews.com/featuredarticle.x?id=1127

I actually can't believe we have a definate answer on this one; it's only taken 12 years worth of development time!

So, what have you guys managed to accomplish since DNF started development? I managed to;

Get through secondry school and pass my GCSE's
Pass 3 As exams
Learnt to code in Yabasic + Blitz Plus and produce a few games/demos for each
Get a job and move out of my parents house
Amass a collection of over 100 music Cd's, 200 Games and 150 DVD's
Draw over 500 Pages of comics as well as 1000's of random sketches
Wrote more than a books worth of short stories
...and almost get engaged!

How about everybody else?
I love semi-colons way too much ^^;

That's sad news, indeed. I played DukeNukem endlessly. But guess it is better
that no sequel is coming - since it could only destroy my memories ;-)

What happened in the last years ?

Studied, moved together with my girlfriend, get engaged,
worked for several years, bought a ps one, ps two and
xbox360 ;-)

In the last 12 years, I have:

Graduated from school, college and university.
Had at least 8 jobs (I can't remember off the top of my head).
Coded in at least 7 different languages.
Got married and had 2 kids.
Built a website based on Barcode Battlers.
Built a website based on the superior sound quality of Vinyl over CDs.
Started to write a novel.
Set up 3 game programming clubs.
Built an origami cube from over 1100 squares of paper.
Lost half a tooth (I've even tried looking behind the fridge).
Donated 10 pints of blood.
Found religion (won't say which one, but it gives me "inner" strength).

It's been a busy 12 years.

I remember from Steam / Valve about Sin Episodes, they planned a series of 6, but only did the 1 as the company got bought up and so the team was split up. It looked amazing and I have played the 1st Episode called Emergence; apparently there's an X Rated version.

I dont know the story and exact facts behind D-N-F, but I'd guess as it's 12 years in progress that it's being done as an independant project and not part of a big software house. It's a shame that things soon come to a grinding halt. Maybe they go fed up, or ran out of money. But I should read up on google first, as those are just initial thoughts. Wasnt that really crap album by Axl Rose and new chums ( O I forgot its the new Guns And Roses ) a 12 year+ in progress. Dont answer that last comment, its way off topic.
