I really like "blue", "fusillet blue" and "minimal"

darklight is not bad, minimal is more professional like. So it probably would depend on how "professional" you would want the forum to look.

Well, there's no point in me changing the theme to something that drives people away, that's why I am asking everyone here before I do anything.

Do you think that a more professional theme would suit or would it be better to have something a little bit more grungy like we have now?

I like the darklight one, the others are to plain and samey imho. I like forums that have clean but different looks to the endless number that seem to use a sort of blue setup similiar to the others you posted. Being different you remember the forum more as it sticks out from the norm.

I was thinking blue because I used blue gradients on the front page, but they are easy to change.. I'll look for some other colour schemes and post them back, maybe we can get a shortlist then and if enough people want the change I'll swap the themes.

I like the darklight ( especially if you can choose from those various colours - ie you get all those 4 in one), and the super blue is pretty cool.

Hmm ... do not know to be honest. The shown themes look
nice but in my eyes not really that better than the theme we
have atm.

Generally, I could only say that the overall look could be a bit
more like what this forum is about. So, maybe in a retro-pixel
design, cracktro logo and so on...but I am not a designer at all.

Back to the topic - I think shown templates are not better than
the template we use. So I am fine with the way the forum looks
like right now.

Darklight is nice, not sure about the different buttons it uses, though. The multiple colours feature is great, but it could be a pain making them all work with custom logos and the front page?

+1. Needs to be far different from the standard SMF/PHPBB themes.

Minimal should be pretty fast (no fancy gfx to load)...
Darklight looks good (not that different from the actual theme BTW)...
Super Blu I really can't tell (just as last option I think)...

other themes looks really "common" and "anonymous"

Since the overall performance of forums (and, generally speaking, websites as well) seems to degenerate due to more and more graphics/flash/ADs... I prefer clean designs to eye-candy sluggish ones; what I'm looking for in a forum are just infos and fast loading pages (some gfx won't hurt of course).

The first one is my favorite. The second seems bland since there are no different hues, just the same hue with different values. I've never been a fan of black/gray forum backgrounds with neon text either.

That's pretty cool indeed and the gfx looks scenish.
I could image that a cool logo would also fit in. Nice find!

The current black/blue theme is comforting, but that's just what I'm used to.

I'm creating a white and blue theme to replace the black theme at my current work place.

If possible, keep the current layout, as the current members will still know where everything is. I think a green theme might be remeniscant of the classic green-screen computers. Though that might be a bit too retro, I don't know.
