Showcase Idea
I've been pondering over the showcase problem and believe me it has been a very ponderous process. Just to put you in the picture, there are (as far as I know) 2 versions of the showcase being worked on.
One version is by Blitz Amateur, however I am unsure if he will finish it because he has other commitments and has not posted any progress about it for a while.
The Second version is being put together by Druid, Aka Gerrad / S!P of the very cool intro inferno website.
I have seen a screenie of Druid's work and it looks very promising, again though I have to be appreciative of his time and I would guess at the current time that it will probably be his version that would be more likely to be completed first.
I am in a difficult situation about this as I have explained to Druid because I have been unable to speak to Blitz Amateur about this so what I am suggesting now is that I let Druid carry on developing the showcase software in his spare time when he can and that Blitz Amateur can perhaps tweak it when it gets finished.
In the meantime we have no showcase and the forum needs one.
So...
There is software for a news fader in this forum. I am going to go through the completed work forum and pick out the best projects from there to be included in a showcase.
Basically I will adapt the news fader to show a screen shot and some brief info about the prod and also there will be a link to click on to take you into the showcase thread.
The showcase thread will be a forum containing child boards for different categories. Voting and comments will be allowed on each prod.
If you upload your projects into the completed work forum as normal and the prod is suitable for the showcase, I will do the rest as regards to adding it to the showcase.
This should tide us over for however long it takes either Druid or Blitz Amateur to develop the software and will take the pressure off them.
I just want to say a big thank you once more to Druid for the time he is spending on the software on our behalf!
