Vector images are made up of curves/lines, unlike bitmap images they won't get pixelated when scaled up. Vectors are better suited for hard cut-out shapes and bitmaps are better at displaying smooth color gradients, You can see the difference in my
liquid demo. The intro screen is a bitmap which pixelates at full screen, but the rest of the demo is all vector (the faucet and drops etc).
I love old nintendo stuff, I spend a lot of time recreating Nintendo consoles and stuff when learning 3d. Yesterday I found a 360 render of a GameBoy cartridge which I uploaded, if you have Quicktime installed you can view it from various angles by dragging it (
kirl.nl/360GBGame.mov). Change the GB in the url to GBA, GCN or N64 for some more oldschool game renders.

Looking forward to seeing your final result, it's nearly there. Meaby you can even add a bit of shadow inside the screen, like the example picture.
