House on the Hill
« on: April 11, 2011 »
I have gotten the urge to combine my writing with programming for a little game, The House on the Hill. Here is the title sequence and backstory to the game. This is going to be a text adventure game with some story aspects to it.

The zip has a Win32 exe and support files.

Add some telex typer. The intro (showing the title) takes a bit too long.
Waiting to see the complete game - it creates a good atmophere!

Very atmospheric already :)

I'll echo benny and recommend that the letter should be displayed with a typer of some sort or maybe the paper could scroll up the screen, even if it stays as it is then it would be good to have a prompt like - Press Space for next page..

I hope that you capture the feel of the 8 bit text adventure!

I have a yearning to play a good one, and spooky is cool.

Well, the computer I use for my dev work crapped out on me. Its only a year old, and I thought I had an extended warranty on it, but I need to find the docs on it. I can do the work on this computer, but my wife uses this one quite a bit, so it may be slow going for a while. Sometimes I hate computers. :)

Oh, I also found out today that they are going to cut back my hours at work. You know you bust your ass, and I always do, and you just get the shaft. Sometimes I hate work too. :)

I love the intro... that sets up a great story for a game. I'm not into text adventures much, but this kind of story might suck me in because I love this genre. Keep it up man! :)

Thanks guys. I've reworked the intro a bit, so it is a little cleaner now. I am working on the first part where you find the machine. I'll post a link when I get that part done, so folks can poke at it some.
