[Flash] Additive Blending Test

While developing another project, I have created a simple demonstration of the additive blending mode in Flash.

Kirl used this to great effect in Wreckreation, and this isn't quite as cool, it does demonstrate the effect at it's most basic level. I do hope to recreate a similar fire effect Kirl made, but for now, if you have downloaded the attached ZIP file, please run the .SWF and try to drag the white circle.

This effect on it's own could be used to demonstrate how RGB works on colour computer monitors, to those who think primary colours are "Red, Blue and Yellow".

That's a good demonstration of the basic workings. For explanation purposes the simpler, the better!

If you're interested I can isolate the fire effect and send you the file, but it does take away some of the fun of tinkering and tweaking your own solution. If you only want an explanation of the particles behaviour, let me know.

Next step is to turn it into a burning effect, to that means losing the primary colours and setting fire to something

That's much nicer, it looks odd that the particles are perfect circles and just pop on and pop off - real fire is smoother, this is very close to being really authentic, it just needs to have a few very small tweaks here and there.

I didn't think I'd be able to do anything like this in Flash, but being a member of this forum has taught me a great deal.
