Cool video to voxel HTML demo
« on: October 26, 2011 »
I just came across this.  It's a HTML5 demo that appears to be streaming video and converting to voxels (or 3d pixels) on the fly.

Very similar to the pixel 3d thingy I did for the last compo, but way, way cooler :)

I had that problem too dizphunkt. I can't remember if it just took a little while to start or I had to zoom around with the mouse to bring the stuff into view.

Could it be that my system doesn't support HTML5? I get similar results as dizphunkt. Here is the error.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think this video requires that your browser supports WebGL.

@rain_storm:
Type:
Code: [Select]
about:config
in the address bar of firefox, then filter for
Code: [Select]
webgl
and check the settings. Maybe this helps.

Detail information about how to enable WebGL can be found here:

Looks and sounds awesome here, I have it running fullscreen in chrome 1280 * 1024 and it's 60fps, hasn't dropped a frame!

I was using Internet Explorer, seems like Microsoft have no plans to support WebGL, WTF?

I tried with FF7.01, but it turns out my graphics drivers are out of date - I'll upgrade them and try again.

(update)

It didn't work - I'll try again on a different computer at work.

No, they are trying to push DirectX instead of any GL stuff ;-)

I've had it open for a few minutes with a compatible computer, and nothing appears apart from the FPS graph.

There are no errors in the FF7 error console either.

Yeah, seems a bit iffy in FF, works in chrome for me.

Is WebGL enabled?

It's enabled. I'll try Chrome.

(update)

Now I can see it. Interesting effect, but it's zoomed in a bit too close at times for me to see what's happening.
