Mine's nearly finished - I just need to finish the AI code, the scroller text and add the music.

Woah .. sounds like a big one! Cool - looking forward to see it!

Sounds awesome, really curious to see what you all come up with!

I only managed to get my main effect working nicely, so I'm halfway there. Probably won't be impressing anybody here with my cheesy oldeschool effect, but I did impress myself, which is good! :)

I'm going to have to abandon the light sourcing effect, as it is slowing down the rest of the entry.

The wireframe should be an eye-catcher.

Hmm ... maybe you could post some pseudo code and we can think of any way to optimize it. Or just keep a backup, then we can try to optimize it after the comp

I am a sucker for wireframes. Already looking forward to see it.

The slowest bit was my attempt at writing a "fill triangle" function is the worst culprit in the slowdown.

I may have another go at it in January.

For now, I just need to add the music.

Yep, got the same problem here: some of my effects are really toooooo slow. For examples, I wanted to put a scrolltext in the bottom for all the demo, like in oldschool ones. But for the plasma and tunnel effect, some gasp appears, and the scroll stops being smooth...

My wireline part was using a "blur" effect but was also too slow. I used some oldtime trick like buffering the old coords in several arrays, but at the end, it was really not so good for me. So I managed to change it, it will be participating effect :D

Hooo just a question, I made at first a improved version of the tutorial effect, should I included it?

Yes, please. That would be great. If you post it somewhere,  I will update the tutorial.

fyi -

Tomorrow I will be at my parents house with no internet and I think that we'll all be having some Christmas Cheer so I'm going to try and open the voting on the 26th December if I'm sober enough!

The deadline of midnight tonight for new entries is unaffected though :)

Shocky, take your time and enjoy xmas, mate! Thanks again for holding this competition. It's much appreciated.

Of course I want to thank everyone who entered this competition. I know that the time before xmas is stressy for everyone and I really did not expect to see seven entries. I was really amazed what you came all up with. The quality of the entries totally rocks (rembering its just javascript on a pixel-by-pixel basis)

Personally, I really love the fact that all entries feature purely oldschool effects - exactly what I had in mind when I started TinyC5. In addition, I am really happy to see that even people who havent used Javascript before created cool effects using the library. Also, thanks to all the great constructive feedback - there are some stuff on my todo list now to improve the lib and make it better.

So, again ... THANKS FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT !!!

Yep ditto that! Really fun and rewarding challenge for me once again as well, and it was the tinyC5 lib that got me to consider plasma again, really happy I nailed it. :)

It's awesome how these challenges help me learn new stuff by providing the encouragement, inspiration and especially real good fun and competition. This is in fact why I wanted to make games; to try and make education more interesting. I think the DBF challenges already achieve this within the field of programming!

Another fine challenge with a good number of interesting entries! Well done all!

Considering that this was limited to just one language that hardly anyone here used, seven entries is a fantastic result!  Thanks to everyone who entered this challenge.. the next one will not be language specific, but you'll be able to use html 5 and tinyc5 if you like!

It shows the versatility of those who hadn't used JS before, and how they were able to port their knowledge of other languages into the new language.

I've been using JS for years, but that wasn't an advantage. I reckon the winner will be someone with the ability to convert their great skill into JS. That's just my opinion - reality may differ.
