Relative Size of Demoscene?

You know, it strikes me that the demoscene hasn't necessarily shrunk that much since the Amiga days-- or it might even have grown!  It seems like it's smaller in relation to everything else, but aren't there just a ton of things posted to Pouet?  The whole cracktro thing seems to have become a thing of the past-- is it possible that we could do something about that?  Scene releases from eg. Razor would go a long way toward popularizing the scene to a new generation.

It is normal that cracktrso are"things of the past": they were usefull in the past!
A cracktro was put in a cracked game, on a floppy  disk. Nowadays, Internet is doing the rest... It is dificult to include a craked intro in that heavy games...

The crakctro category have moved to 64k compo I suppose. But I think also that memory size is not a problem now... When I'm showing to colleagues what can be done with a program of 64kb, they don't belive it... On windows, a good program is supposed to take more than 1Mb 

To change this, you just have to... code

While I consider the demoscene to be a niche, the internet has made knowledge of it widely available.

If I had known about it during its early days, I'd have joined in, but I've only known about it for the last 10 years or so.

The uses of the demoscene have changed - amongst other useful purposes, it's always been a great place for coders of all ranks to improve their skills, but this is becoming more prominent.
