Brilliant, now that we have some new helping areas for languages. It would be cool, if there's any people you know who use them, to pop over and check out.

Cheers,
Clyde.

Well for me its what I know (reasonably) well: Blitz Basic :P

What I know a little bit of: C, C++, javascript , HTML, CSS , Cobra

What I'll do soon: Java, PHP, mysql, VB

Oh yeah and I plan on having a crack at assembler too because its hardcore + big & clever.

I knew and used:
  • C/C++
  • GFA Basic ( I knew the exact CPU time of most instructions once compiled )
  • PHP ( I still use it at times )

I know and use:
  • JavaScript
  • XHTML
  • CSS
  • Assembly 80x86
  • Assembly 680x0

Was there any way of combining gfa and 68k assembly? Your GFA demos are really nice.

Also I love the java stuff you did too, especially the full length demo with the metaballs and gourad shaded vectors!

Yes in GFA it is possible to include a chunk of compiled 68k code and CALL it with/out some arguments and get a value back, but I was a purist. I never used ASM in my GFA prods.

Neja is in JavaScript, not Java ;)

Interesting to write a demo based on the limitations of a language :) I can understand the thrill of it myself, I saw loads of really nice demos written in Amos on the Amiga, some of them were really excellent!

Sorry about getting the language to write Neja wrong :) It's a very nice demo, I enjoyed it.

I’ve programmed in Visual Basic 6.0, C++, Blitz Basic3D, Blitz Basic, Blitz Max, DarkBasic Pro, PlayBasic, PureBasic, Cobra, and Html.  And I think I’d like to try in the future FreeBasic since people are saying it is good, and try Java.

@mikeeyesfan:

Wow ... loads of different basic languages you used. Just out of curiousity. What did you
miss with the other basics so that you wanna try out freebasic now ?

Oh, nothing I just like trying different languages and since it is free I downloaded a copy a few days ago tried it a little not much though.  I liked Blitz Basic3D the best out of the ones I have tried for making games.  I had a class on Visual Basic 6.0 in jr. college I used it first.

And when I found a book on making games with it I bought it by Jonathan Harbour Microsoft Visual Basic Game Programming with DirectX and Visual Basic Game Programming for Teens.  I have used his other books too. His web site is http://www.theharbourfamily.com/jonathan/ .  And he teaches game programming at uat it’s site is www.uat.edu .

Visual Basic 6.0 has a lot of power, but it gets hard to understand like C++ does too not as easy as the Basic languages.
