THIS FORUM WILL BE OFFLINE NEXT SUNDAY.
« on: December 10, 2006 »
This is a post to let you all know that I am taking the forum offline next Sunday, probably for a couple of hours while I do some maintanence on it.
There is a new version of SMF released (1.1) we are running 0.9 at the moment.
As this is quite a large upgrade, it means that I will have to overwrite a lot of files so next Sunday morning I will be taking the site offline and backing everything up and then installing the new version of SMF.

Already there are new modifications being made for 1.1 that will not work with 0.9.
The other thing that most of you will be aware of is that there are people about who spend their lives trying to screw up message boards, it is vital that I make sure that we are running the latest version of SMF at all times to prevent any hacking attempts.

Cheers.

Definitely do it.  It's essential that the forum's up-to-the-second updated with the latest patches.
Thanks for putting in the time and effort it requires, I'm sure it's a lot more time consuming and a lot less user friendly than Windows Update.
