Fireboard - 1kb Win32/Directx9
« on: September 20, 2009 »

Here is our latest 1kb intro, released at Function 2009

It was a great experience for me since it's first time I develop an intro using a tool like RenderMonkey, which make the development process a bit less painfully :), and ofcourse learn a bit more about shading coding.

Requires: Pixel Shader 3.0 capable graphics card and d3dx9_32.dll installed.

Enjoy

Tried it on my Notebook (Windows7 RC1, latest dx, latest driver, nVidia GeForce 8400M GS, should be DX10 SM4.0) and I get a black screen and a little hiss for sound.  Seems to be running though, Escape gets me back to the desktop.

Will try it at home on my proper desktop.

@Jim, not sure what could be wrong as it works on old graphics card like geforce 6600GT. And the noise sound is intentionally, I call it by sound effect :)

You are right, it doesn't look too spectacular on a Geforce with Pixel Shader 2.0. (See attached screenshot )  ;) I think it's about time to ask the piggy bank for some money to upgrade my gfx card. I would love to see it in real action.  :)

Should have placed higher than 6th :)

Nice one Rbz, in fact the fire looks similar to the one you did on that formula evaluation website

Runs perfectly on my desktop - very cool fire! :)

I will try upgrading from rc1 to release on my Notebook and see what happens.

As for the incompatibility, are you using a bitwise operator for the checkerboard pattern? Because things like &, |, and ^ are only supported by SM4.

Upgraded from rc1 to rtm - still no graphics on my notebook.  Weird!
