[Wireframe] Tronscape
« on: May 28, 2011 »
Well I havent had time to work on this so I have added a tune and given it a name. It's not what I hoped to have done but I will probably look to take the concept further outside the compo and perhaps make what I originally planned.

Think the name gives away what it is, spacebar toggles the glow of the recog on and off. Uses my opengl engine coded in blitzmax and models created in blender (by me as well). Uses a framebuffer extension, so a gl2.0+ card needed but thats it for techy stuff :P

Here's the piccy and download.

Cool one!! I'm a sucker for hexagons, haha. Great [destroyer? not sure what they're called...] models, too!

Cool floor and excellent models! Some aliasing problems in windowed mode, but I like it a lot! :)

I can't seem to get this one working on any of my home computers - I'll try again from work.

The floor was pretty neat and the ships seemed spot on!
Can I ask how you designed the floor?

@Those that are unable to run it, I suspect its failing to do the framebuffer extension, I will see about uploading a version that doesnt use it that might solve the issue tho ofc remove the glow effect, but i actually like it without :P

@Pixel, the floor is a single hexagon mesh, I then create each row offset by the width and depth needed to make them line up, the actual height is random so the floor is different every run. This was me just messing about testing, but it looked interesting enough, I had planned to travel over the landscape rather than a simple rotate but time got the better of me.

Ok I have removed the need for any extensions so this should I hope mean it works on those systems that the other version failed. It's got no glow on the ship anymore but I kinda like it this way. It does expect a 32bit opengl display but I am pretty sure it was the extension call failing.

Cool, that runs fine now. I like the different heights on the landscape.

Great entry. Respect. Why did I not think about the TRON theme, too? It is excellent for this comp. Damn it ;-)

The hexagon ground is really great executed. Well done, TinDragon!
