Pompey Pirates 91 remake
« on: February 21, 2012 »
Hot off the hard drive is Pompey Pirates 91 remake for the ST, a nice colourful parallax scrolling menu that i've been meaning to do for ages.  This was one of my favourites from them as most of their menus were just a boring old picture with a scroller.
Use the arrow keys to move around.

When the initial screen pops up to choose fullscreen, etc.. it crashes and I cant go any further. I'm on XP SP3. c2duo, 2gig ram, gt440.

Odd indeed.  Try this attached windowed mode only one and see if that works.....[holds breath]

@KrazyK. yeh, that windowed version works nice.

Not sure what the issue was with the original one, the screen popped up and the music played, but then it crashed about 2 seconds later.

*EDIT, since you updated the demo KrazyK, it now works proper. Nice one.

Neither windowed nor fullscreen mode works on my Windows XP with nVidia gfx.  It crashes right after the unpacking screen.  :-\
Maybe you can look into it again, since it's really a cool menu. But before putting it on RR it shouldn't crash anymore... ;)

Ok, I''l dig out my XP laptop from the loft later then and debug it and see what the problem is.  The first error was caused by the odd star being plotted outside the window on XP.  Win7 didn't care where you plotted them !  ???

While I was messing with the arrow keys, I happened to press both <- and -> at the same time at the beginning of the bg effect (which stutters)... and then I also tried it at the end of the bg (fully to the right), when I pressed both <- and -> it moved left, but the bg graphics (building structures) didn't move at all, the rest did.

If I press -> till the end, then hold -> and press <- for long enough, I can make the 'grass' blocks to fully dissapear off screen... as shown in my screen shot.

Just thought I'd note the 'bugs' :)

Hehe, I also found that when I started messing with it but have fixed it now and will repost it soon and it's now a bit smoother as a result.
