Post your broadband speed!
« on: June 03, 2011 »
I'm just interested because it's taking me well over an hour to upload a 500mb video to youtube.. Which sucks!

I am thinking that the UK must be a long way behind Europe with broadband speeds..

According to the speedtest:

Download: 2.954 kbit/s / 369 kByte/s
Upload:        378 kbit/s / 47 kByte/s

So 500 MB would take approx 3 hours to upload for me...  ;D

I currently have around 12mbit down and fixed 1mbit up, rarely upload large files and it also has alot to do with were there uploaded to, but even something small takes ages. Upload speeds are pretty crap compared to download speeds, I think some business broadband deals offer faster upload speeds but home user services all seem around 1meg upload (atleast in the UK)

Were ment to be getting super-fast BT broadband down here in cornwall but they started by updating the most pointless area in the county first  ::)

Businesses here can get adsl 2+ annex m, which has 2mbit upstream. Above that speed and it's way off consumer prices.

8mbit down/1mbit up here, which isn't great but it works just fine for what I use it for and the company I work for pay the bill :)

If I did not have a connection for free I would probably have gotten myself a fiber connection like my brother has which is 30mbit down/3mbit down. They offer 50/5 as the best speed, but I cannot see what I would use it for, so I'm just going to stick with the free one, at least as long at I'm employed there.

Moroboshisan, that's criminal!  :(

Do you live a long way from big towns and cities, or is broadband in Italy just slow and expensive throughout?

K++ Raizor. I gave that a go and got:

Ping - 96ms
Download - 0.83Mbps
Upload - 0.31Mbps

That might be why my online C&C games have been running slowly today. I'm only down the road from the telephone exchange.
