I think , if we include the source code of each entry , it would be nice and let others learn from our forum.

just my thought.

Tetra, you could do that I guess, or you could make several entries if you want :)

Just another quick question -- I took the rule about linking to here and flashtro.com to mean that there should be some live links in the intro itself. So I've included a logo from each site to click on which were, of course, nicked from each site. Is it going to be kosher to include them? (I don't know how closely this place and flashtro are associated so if I have to ask over there then just say.)

Here's a (temporary) in-progress screeny to show you the kind of thing I'm talking about. (You can see that my effort is more of a pastiche or homage than a pixel-perfect remake -- just the bigger greets text and the music to do!)

@Sledge:

Screenie looks cool. The idea of clickable logos is great IMHO. Thought about
something like this, too. I had in mind that a little start gui pops up, where you
can normally set the resolution and stuff and there I wanted to place some
textlinks.

But your idea is neat, too. How does you approach it ? If you demo is running
fullscreen and somebody clicks on it with the mouse - does the demo end and
the browser pops up or how do you want to manage it ?!

Anyway, interesting marketing idea ;)

I'm using Blitz3D so am pretty much stuck with the default behaviour -- fortunately when you launch a URL from a fullscreen B3D app' it minimizes and continues to run, which is exactly what I want. To start with I just ran it windowed but it really needs to hog the system (ie go fullscreen) to keep the display smooth, so I've been quite lucky there. I like the idea of having the links in a gui pop-up but having the logos in the main demo gave me something to talk about in the scroller!

ANyway, screenshot looks great.

Generally, if you publish something via the internet you should take care
of that it stays there and the url stays the same.

Ok. In reality it is of course different - and it seems that there are some
dead links now and then. Although sometimes people refer to the new
url - in the end - nothing is for the eternity.

So, as far as it belongs for the compo and the existence of the two boards
I think we can dare the risk that those urls might not be available in some
years anymore ...

Just my 2cts.

That's a great idea Sledge, rest assured that this domain name is safe for at least the next 9 years!!

Of course, you can feel free to include a link / text in any way that you like.
As far as this place and Flashtro being linked are concerned, musashi9 is a member of this forum and I am a member of Flashtro and that's about it. :)

I added Flashtro as a link in the front page of this site a long time ago, it's a brilliant place.

And I am so miffed :) I was going to convert that one Sledge :D

Never mind, I have a plan b!

Thanks to those who posted kind words about my screenie. The main reason I registered here was because the existing users looked like real scene enthusiasts, yet without one iota of elitism -- maybe I shouldn't be surprised to stumble across a scene-related community that does not turn its nose up at those who prefer high level languages, but I am!

@Shockwave
My main concern for the logos was that I didn't want to use them then find that their respective site owners were miffed that I hadn't asked. You're cool about it, so that's good, and musashi9 is a member here so making sure he is too should be straightforward.

@Druid
I'm glad you raised the issue of URL expiry because if we're announcing the new forum feature then it should be made clear to people whether the information is current or not. I will probably stick a date at the start of the demo so anyone who gives it a look in, say, twenty years will know not to expect the links to be valid!

Sledge, there are some places one the net that are really a pain in the arse, we've always tried to do the opposite here. There is still eliteism in the scene but it usually comes from the people who have no talent :) Most famous scene people I've talked to are really nice guys.

I'm glad you registered and I'm looking forward to seeing your cracktro conversion :) Subzero is a member of Intro-Inferno and posts there often, he's the guy who did the music in that cracktro so I am sure that he'll appreciate the conversion :)

Theres never any bitchin here in fact you probably found that out already. I hate over-opinionated asswipes that never seem to help anyone, too busy with their own running commentry. Criticism is alright, but only when it is constructive criticism. I mean you cant please all the people all of the time but some people sure can piss off the majority (over time).
