Controversial?
« on: June 13, 2007 »
I was just surfing around a few sites and I came across this site;

Madelaine Macan
(Hard to miss this really).

And happened to read the comments in the blog. Tragic as this case is, I can't get my head around it, why not many people seem to be asking questions which to me seem obvious from day one.

Firstly, what the fuck were these so called parents thinking of, going out for a meal in a foreign country while thier kids were left on thier own in the hotel block?

Speaking as a proud parent, my heart is in my mouth when someone other than me or Mel even holds my son. How the fuck could anybody go out for a meal and leave thier very young children alone like this?

Had they been Portugese they would have committed a crime by doing so (I believe it is illegal there to leave children home alone.).

Secondly, the way that the media has portrayed all this.. Two professional people.. Why are they respected when they actually neglected thier children?
Had they been working class, would the media coverage portrayed them in a positive light?

Thirdly, this whole fucking world tour thing is sick.

Look at that link, and at the time of writing this, there is three quarters of a million pounds in thier fund ffs! So that they can tour the world looking for thier daughter.

It stinks, it sucks and I hope to god that Madelaine is found safe and well (although there have been some bad news rumours today, hopefully they are not true). I hope that thier parents are held to account for thier actions which led somehow to the dissapearence of thier daughter.

They met the Pope for fucks sake.

The vultures in the media that are driving this frenzy should also be ashamed of themselves.

Been waiting for someone to say stuff like that, but everyone that does gets attacked by the angry comments of the Macan Cult. They seem incapable of accepting that leaving the children alone was a stupid and irresponcible thing to do, and accuse people of being heartless when they point it out.

As for this world tour, it's pointless! Everyone the world over has been exposed to Madelines picture at some point, even tibetan monks would probebly recognise her by this point. That three quarters of a million is going to waste sending these people around the world in a Carmen Sandiego style hunt, no doubt trailed by the media, who will make just as much money reporting on it for the public to lap up.

Bitter? Maybe. But that's just the way it is. Just think, with that ammount of money, you could put up a reward so her captors may think about returning her. But no, that would be logical, right?

I agree that it was irresponsible of them to leave their children alone in an unfamiliar environment.

Parents these days get told they're doing the wrong thing - they don't protect them enough, yet they harm their development by not letting them play outside with friends (which they do because of fear the children may be harmed by strangers outside).
We cannot win.

It also makes my blood boil that there are "people" in our society who take children against their will for their own twisted ends.
Had these people not existed, or been eradicated (I'm starting to sound a bit like Hitler now), it is highly probable that Madeline Mcann would still be with her parents today, and the whole media fiasco would not have erupted.

I'm quite sure her parents would like to tour Europe/Africa, but under these circumstances, they're doing it out of desperation.

The donation fund has recieved over £1,000,000.00 to date according to thier website (link in first post) and now this is in the news;

http://abc.net.au/news/stories/2007/09/07/2027360.htm?section=world

A few thoughts, not saying any are true, but people might reasnobly think...

If this had happened in Britain the police would have interviewed the people closest to Madelaine as soon as possible.. Why has it taken this long to question the parents???????????????????????????????

Isn't is convenient that there is a lot of media attention on this case? Perhaps if you were to look at it from the sinister side, the maccans may have manipulated the media to put pressure on the police to convict somebody local? Anybody but themselves?

If Gerry and Kate Maccan are such devoted parents, why the fuck did they leave thier young family unattended?

As Kate Maccan is now being treated as a suspect (but not charged), the police obviously suspect her to have a connection with Madelaines dissapearence.

I thought that this might be the case all along and I hope I am wrong for that little girls sake. If she has been killed by either one or both of her parents, the whole world will hate them.

Both parents have now been declared suspects in the dissapearence, something that they both deny. Gerry Maccan has written in his blog that the suggestion is ludicrous and they will fight it all the way.....

The couple have turned down a plea bargain.  The police must have some inkling they did it, but not enough to get a murder conviction.  Perhaps that's why they're pussyfooting around?

Or perhaps it is because there is so much media attention on the case that the police are terrified of getting it wrong.
