It works a slightly different way in fooling the brain and lets you see in almost full colour. Definitely the best I've seen from the coloured glasses.

It doesn't work as well as it should for me with me being virtually blind in my right eye, those photos do work a bit though, to me they had a slight sepia tined kind of look to them but they looked more colourful than the oldschool 3D images I had seem as a child

Ah, that's not so good :(

There seems to be some clever selection of coloured lenses and filtering of the images that aswell as giving the stereo image it also, between the two lenses, lets all colours through and the brain manages to combine them fairly well.

I think I have a rough idea how to do the filtering but it's going to take some messing around/testing to really find out.

After a bit of messing around I've come up with this:

Not sure if it's anywhere near right as there seems to be a few ways to get at least some sort of 3d effect.

This looks reasonably good to me sitting 2-3m away from 32" display.

Hmmm, CH4 don't seem to have made much of an effort for their '3D WEEK'. This is all I can see in the listings, the Queen thing might go into some of the new technology but not sure and Derren Brown and the movies could be worth a look. Anyway, got some glasses out of it to mess around with at least.

Monday:

17.00 - (not listed as 3D) Paul O'Grady show possibly with some 3D bits
21.00 - The Queen in 3D Part 1
22.00 - Derren Brown Presents the 3D Magic Spectacular

Tuesday:

21.00 - The Queen in 3D Part 2

Wednesday:

00.40 - Flesh for Frankenstein in 3D

Thursday:

Friday:

20.00 - The Queen in 3D Part 1 (again)
21.00 - The Queen in 3D Part 2 (again)
22.00 - Friday the 13th Part III in 3D

Saturday:

21.20 - The Greatest Ever 3D Moments
22.20 - Friday the 13th Part III in 3D (again)

Sunday:

11.55 - JLS in 3D
14.10 - JLS in 3D (again)
15.00 - Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert
22.00 - Derren Brown Presents the 3D Magic Spectacular (again)
23.10 - The Greatest Ever 3D Moments (again)

Well, channel 4 have made a complete mess of this. There's really bad ghosting through the blue lens making it almost impossible to watch, I've tried adjusting my tv settings without any luck and whoever produced the derren brown 3d magic program didn't have a clue what they were doing and the show was crap anyway.

I wonder if they tested this with a team of Chimps? The new 3D method and filtering they've dreamt up, just doesn't do anything for me, and yes I am wearing the glasses, lol.

What's going on?

I just found this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IY0RXVw1E68

make sure you select the right glasses under the video.

This is NOT what I'm seeing in the TV broadcasts.

EDIT: and this.

I'm not 100% sure yet but it could be something to do with the hd upscaling my dvd recorder is doing to the signal before passing it to the tv through hdmi.

I just have a regular tv lead going to the outside aerial and built in freeview ( updated the channel list last night )

Do you guys (that can see it in all its glory) have fairly new tvs?

There are alot of people on various google searches who can't see the C4 3D as its displayed wrong like what i gets. Those U Tube links are how I remember 3D, but it's not at all what i can watch.

It turns out that's what it was for me, the upscaling to the HD signal was messing it up somehow. I'm not sure if it's just messing wih the colours or if it thinks the blue channel is out of sync and is trying to fix it though.

Is there a way to set up a DSLR to take a couple/few pictures and then digitally turn them 3D as with HDR or will I have to shell out a few hundred quids for the new canon 3D digital?

This is more a note to self 'cause I'm getting quietly drunk here now but if anybody knows of any answers then fire away.

For still scenes you could use a tripod and slide bar, maybe possible without but not as easy to set up well.

That's probably better than using two cameras as it could be difficult getting a short enough space between the two.

Here's a test, It's got better geometry than what was used to create the previous image although I still have to work out how to set it up correctly.

Left/Right mouse buttons turn camera
Both mouse buttons together move forward
click on X to exit

EDIT: fixed bug that caused some objects to flicker

It seems to work quite effectively with the Sainsburys glasses and my limited sight in my right eye, I don't know whether the effect would be better if it were full screen ?

As it is at the moment nothing will be coming out of the screen like it did in the previous still image, I'm still trying to figue that out with my new calcs so for now it's only depth into the screen. I've got a few variables I can change to alter the effect but a few other things can affect it too, like the size of the screen if fullscreen or the size of the window and the distance from the viewers eyes  to the screen. I'm also going to have to work out some relationship between the virtual world and the real world regarding scaling.

A 3D glasses comp might be cool, but not everyone can do 3D.

We would have to decide on a colour scheme, but it could be possible to code in the left/right colours and have them customisable.

There must be some resources on the internet regarding scaling.

I'll give this a try in the new year and see what I come out with.
