USB Hard drive have Died :(
« on: November 22, 2009 »
Hello everyone....

My Backup Portable USB Hard drive have died and I wasnt expecting it.  :'(
I think I had it for 3 yrs or so.

I wont be buying USB Portable Hard drive anymore because it is short life expand!
So I have to get Backup Hard drive that come with plug which have longer life expand I think.

I just got Mobby Boardband at the moment but it does get disconnect sometime.

I am torn with Virgin boardband and BT Boardband as for virgin boardband...they have unlimited download with free online rental which is good and i used to have BT Boardband long time ago and only had one problem in 1 yrs which is amazing!

How everyone?

I try to open the hard drive but it is sealed....when I plug the USB HD to my Gaming Laptop as the HD should make a little noise as you know when the HD Drive that go spin round inside but there is no noise at all plus there is no folder pop up on the screen to say that I have HD drive plugs my laptop.  To repair it? it is very unlikely to repair when the spin disc inside the HD is gone dead  :'(

So I have learn my lesson on USB HD drive and i wont make same mistake twice!

I have Window 7 Ultimate now and it is Great :kewl:

Some have said Windows 7 runs faster than XP on the same hardware.

I'm not sure if 7 has the same administrative tools as XP, but does the disk appear in the disk management console?

(Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Disk Management)

If you have a firewire port, invest in a drive with a firewire port, as this has no CPU overhead.

True, true.

Hi Shock!!! I just got my internet back. Still living in the boondocks but I got my connection at last! It's a mobile usb modem which could handle wifi, hsdpa, 3g and 2g connections. However the signal here is 2g so my DL speeds is like 2kbps. hahahahahaha.  Even DBF loading times is so bad I need to drink coffee every now and then.  Well as you said this is better than nothing.

Hotshot: The portable usb drive is usually a sata drive and they are IMHO much more reliable than the ones needing and PSU.  Why don't you try to get the drive off the casing and connect it to aUSB - SATA cord? It's probably your cord having probs and not the drive.

If you've got a DVD rw drive, and it's the external hard drive you are using for storing code, demos, pictures, eg a backup medium. it might be an idea to save you some money with and burn them to DVD, or if you've a CD RW onto that mate.
