Gameboy Color Trainer Remake.
« on: October 14, 2010 »
Hi guys,

what can I say, I was bored, so I remade this.

The Emperor's New Groove +4 by Lightforce

Credits:
Code: Lordee
Music: Heatbeat
Gfx: well, from the C64 obviously.

Ofcourse it's fully interactive. :o Use the cursor keys, SPACE selects...
Nezplay is used for gameboy music playback.

And now enjoy (if you want)! ;)

Well, it's nice, but I thought that it was on GB ... and not an exe ...

Ok, maybe I should have made it clearer that it's a Win32 remake of a Gameboy Color trainer. Sorry for that! Nevertheless thanks for taking a look and the comment! ;)

Anyway it works really fine :)

@Padman:
Nice little conversion. Do not know the original - but was the scroller really that fast?
Nevertheless, good job. I like the fact that the menu works!

Thx benny!  :) I made the scroller as fast as it runs in the two GB emulators I tested the original with. So I guess the speed should be about right. But since I don't know how fast it is on your machine - but I assume oddly fast if you mention it - it could be once again a problem with the frame rate limiter not working correctly for some reason. I updated the exe with a SetFrameRate procedure bound to the F12 key. If nothing really changes when you hit F12, then yup the scroller is that fast... ;)

(New exe in the original post)

Im on Windows 7 and the last few pixels of the gameboy colour graphics get chopped by the bottom of the window.

Hmm, not really sure what causes that problem Clyde. I can't test it on Windows 7 myself. Maybe it's because it uses a tool window instead of an ordinary one. Would be nice if you could provide a screenshot. Maybe I can figure out what's wrong then.

As I use Paint Shop Pro 9 ( jasc ), and that uses a different version of directx and changes the aero settings to basic whenever I use it.

The trainer window got updated and it was as your screenshot above. That meant I couldnt take a screen grab. It looks as if whatever you've used to render with is using an older version of dx.

Welldone on the trainer btw.

Well, it uses DirectX 9 and that should actually be compatible with Win7. (unlike DX7 which always switches off Aero...) But you are right, there could be some other incompatibility causing this once again. As long as you can live with the few missing pixels, I can live with it too ;) Thx for the feedback mate!

@Padman:
Thanks padman for new version. Speed of the scroller seems to be constant (both with F12 version
and without). Nice one!
