Competition Sigs.
« on: March 19, 2011 »
Been thinking about these a bit lately.

Quite a lot of people here have several sigs and they are quite bulky, I thought that maybe we could have a comp winners page on the new front-end when I upgrade the site and display the sigs there somehow?

In the forum posts, each of them could be replaced by a small trophy (we could have bronze, silver and gold or something) with an embedded link to take inquisitive people to the winning entry?

Or shall we just keep them as they are?

a 32x32pixel icon or a small trophy with embedded link sounds good

I also like the small trophies idea :)
Maybe also with a title logo with the actual sig winner logo ?

I mean ... you have the logo (the picture that you have actully in your signatures) and then the link to the competition.
All this in a bubble info thing

Great idea Shocky your sig alone fills the best part of half my screen. But the link is just an awesome touch.

Well in fairness, some people here (Hellfire&Xalthorn) already have links in their sigs to the comp entries so I got the idea from them.

Oops.

I will retry.

You got the trophees. When you are hovering them with the mouse, you got a little info bubble displaying (it's CSS 3 as far as I know) and inside this bubble you have this->

The beautiful link to the beautiful prod

What about alt text? That shouldn't slow things down too much?

I like the idea of a trophy display.

Good ideas! I like the trophy list, and alt text to display what comp it was for would be a nice and simple solution.

I agree with alternative text ... but wanted also to keep these beautiful signature assets. I mean someone draw these ... so it would be cool to use it :)
But ... it's really simpler with just some alt text ;)

I just tried something out for the tophy graphics if you like and want use it. If you want, i can try to change the color of the cube to gold, silver, bronze too. Here are my first results/idea: (256x256 128x128 64x64 48x48 32x32)

I think gold should be more yellow and silver should be brighter. apart from colour the 64x64 size seems the most reasonable size to me.

I like the idea of the glenze cubes, could I suggest a couple of tweaks?

If you make them solid filled, lose the "gold" "silver" "bronze" text and have them resting on a base like a grammy or an oscar!

I'm thinking that they should be a maximum of 48*48 pixels.

The banner sigs will be preserved in the new front end in the Hall of fame. (this is the plan anyway)

Nice you like the idea. Sure you can suggest a couple of tweaks ;)
Here are very fast done concept previews, so please dont blame about the quality of the bases... I draw it in a real hurry just as concept preview. What versions do you guys like more? Btw, i will change the gold and silver color as some people requested very soon! ;)

Please remember and keep in mind, that the final images may be only 48x48 ;)
