Why you need to fail...
« on: June 01, 2011 »
...or:

If you are not failing, you are not trying hard enough

A true message very well presented:

I agree with what this guy is saying. I think at some point all of the coders here have felt over out head but we have all kept banging out fists against the wall until the wall came down.

The people who get furthest in live are the people who are not afraid to fail but the people who are determined to push through failure. The pain of failing is often the best teacher for the determined.

Very interesting synopsis, and eye know somone whose been going through that alot of late ;)

Wouldn't the World be boring, if everyone and everything was perfect!? And I've never understood the meaning when people say, that's normal or refer to normal size, etc.

Failure Is An Option!

Good video. I always try to live like that myself, but more often than not I forget that I need to continue to challenge myself and grow and need a swift kick in the ass. So, thanks for posting this :)

And have some karma.

True success comes from learning to overcome failure, I think is the overall topic in this video. Without a challenge, we would have little to do. :D

Great talk with some useable ideas. Luckly I have failed a lot of times, so I'm happy to say that I'm growing as a person and as a programmer :)

ROFL ... Word!

Interesting thought! Back then games were difficult to win and you failed a lot but learned to not give up.
Many of the games today have almost constant saving so perhaps kids are used to second chances and don't try as hard...

Just a personal thought.

Yup. That's a good point. I also realized in the last weeks that especially relatively small games (mostly online games)
directly implement a link to a walkthrough page of their game. That seems to be the trend nowadays.

You know what?  This video made sense to me.  I'm not normally a huge fan of motivational speeches after living a lot of my life as a sales person I got tired of it but the whole idea of staying in one's comfort zone totally hit a chord and that's what I've been doing in a lot of ways for a long time.
