Well smart Shockwave; just love that shape shifting outline.

I'll think up some ideas for you; the main one that springs to mind, is transition effects for images of PC's / sinus text writter - both on and off.

I also remember you doing a nifty text writter in Blitz, where you used different sized fonts to make the letters fly onto the screen.

I really like Hellfires idea of using a greeble (spelling?), I'll favour a tunnel because that will leave a nice hole in the middle that I can do something with.

I remember that typer Clyde, that could work with a nice squidgy font.

I have to talk nice to Dicab to make me a nice mesh for the middle now.

There's also a 3dsmax-plugin called greeble (which obviously inspired texas).
Maybe you can create the geometry procedurally by randomly extruding/scaling faces of your mesh:

I'm not quite sure if that "hole" works well with your foreground-shape, but it's worth a try...

3D Star wars Tunnel like what Hellfire show the picture is really amazing and I am sure shockwave can do it  8) ;)
