He's come back from his holiday, but you'd think he'd have come back after the first night of rioting instead of leaving it for 3 days.

I understand the apprahension of the police on the ground - even with riot gear, I'd be afraid to go near the rioters. Send in the tanks, or at least some form of armoured vehicles. They shouldn't need to open fire - just the sight of a tank coming towards them should send the rioters running
